Rad is looking for talented, creative, and thoughtful Unity 3D engineers to
join our team of innovators and mad scientists changing the way the world
interacts with immersive and traditional content. You will have a leading role
in the development of our Unity-based media applications on PlayStation VR,
Quest, and beyond, implementing beautiful and immersive user interfaces,
maintaining best engineering practices, and paving the way for how users
interact with immersive and streaming video content on multiple devices.
What you’ll do:
* Primarily focus on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2, PS4 and PSVR1 updates, Quest, and potential expansion to other top tier VR headsets and game consoles.
* Implement 3D / immersive interfaces that are easy to use and VR native, but can also be changed to support a TV view (in the case of PSVR2 -> PS5)
* Develop and modify a highly performant and optimized code base utilizing C# and C++
* Build streaming video support for 2D, 3D, 180 and 360 degrees, and traditional 4K or 1080p video.
* Interact with web APIs for loading content and users accounts into the UI in a highly efficient manner.
* Build support for spatial audio and surround sound content on streaming video for TV format or in virtual theaters inside the headset.
* Build in social support to include friends into a viewing experience.
* Write well documented, maintainable, and clean code that can be scaled and reused across many projects
Who you are:
* Highly motivated self-starter who can work without supervision and work with a globally distributed team.
* Proficient and passionate about writing quality C# code, and creating / maintaining clean code using OOP best practices and patterns
* Have shipped at least 2-3 applications or games with Unity3D
* Experience with writing native plugins for Unity3D (Java, Obj-C, C++)
* Familiarity with 3D Interfaces and 2D Canvases
Nice to haves:
* Blockchain and smart contract experience in Ethereum, Bitcoin, or beyond
* Prior Augmented or Virtual Reality experience
* Experience with other game consoles like XBox or PC game releases on Steam
* Knowing your way around Unreal Engine 4 or other game engines
* Experience with ffmpeg and/or basic video encoding and decoding knowledge
