Job Description

Cruisebound is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to support its growing
business. In this role, you will work as part of a small team of engineers to
enhance our cruise booking platform, and act as a mentor and thought partner
for our growing engineering team.

**Your responsibilities**

As an early member of the Cruisebound team, you will be an integral part of
making the consequential early decisions that will drive our growth. Your
responsibilities will evolve as Cruisebound grows, but for starters, they will
include:

* Being hands on - you'll be writing code as part of a small engineering team
* Helping solve performance and architecture problems as we scale our growing userbase
* Maintaining and extending monitoring and alerting for our web APIs
* Triaging and Remediating Errors and Availability issues for Production services
* Working alongside Cruisebound team members outside engineering to help improve internal tooling workflows

**The ideal candidate**

* Has at least 8 years of experience working with server-side languages, JVM experience preferred
* Has a depth of experience optimizing performance from CDN to database, and everywhere in between
* Is comfortable working in a distributed work environment
* Has a passion for travel and/or cruises and regularly experiences wanderlust
* Experience from travel industry or agencies is not required

**Compensation and Benefits**

The compensation package for this position comprises: (1) a base salary
ranging from $140,000 to $160,000 depending on the candidate's experience,
knowledge, and skills, and (2) employee stock option grant. In addition, we
also offer our employees a comprehensive range of benefits including but not
limited to:

* Excellent health care insurance (medical, dental, vision, long-term disability, etc.)
* Generous personal paid time off (PTO) allowance beginning with 20 days in the first year, plus 2 additional days per year of tenure (up to 30 days total)
