In this role you will start your day reviewing the latest PRs and Slack
conversations to see what’s been going on. Alerts from map update failures or
build issues will show up in relevant channels. You might need to address
something, or you might need to collaborate across multiple teams.
##### You will review Github PRs assigned to you, participate in code reviews
and collaborate on new projects.
**Responsibilities:**
* Work with the Maps Experience team to create **backend mapping technologies** that provide spatial search and vector tiles based results and map layers for the GaiaGPS and Trailforks Web/Apps
* Leverage your education and experience with Python to quickly come up to speed on current framework.
* Contribute to the spatial development workflow, toolchain and spatial data search and discovery
##### **This describes you:**
* You are an avid outdoor enthusiast with a passion and affinity for maps and geospatial data
* You have experience developing in a cloud environment.
* You have 3+ years of software engineering experience in Python
* You have 2+ years working with large databases
* You have 1+ years working with common search technologies (Elastic Search or other)
* You have 1+ experience with open source mapping libraries (Mapbox, Vector Tiles, etc.)
* You love all things geospatial and maps in general
* You’re a collaborative team player who celebrates the success of your team
##### **Nice to have:**
* Experience working PostGIS, Containerized work flows, and cloud architectures.
* Docker image creation and clustering experience.
* Linux administration
