Position Summary, Job Requirements & Responsibilities:

**What We’re Looking For:**

Iridium is seeking a Junior Software Engineer to join the Iridium Solutions
Engineering team. In this role, you will primarily assist with designing and
developing new software features and capabilities in support of the Managed
Access Phase 2 project and follow-on programs. You will also work on design,
coding, testing, and documenting of software as a member of an Agile scrum
team using the Atlassian toolset. You will thrive/succeed in this role if you
like to learn and contribute to your team.

**What You’ll Do:**

* Help your team develop software on assigned projects
* Work on designing, coding, testing, and documenting based on Epics and Stories
* Participate as a member of an Agile scrum team by attending and actively contributing to daily standup meetings, sprint planning meetings, sprint reviews/demonstrations, and retrospectives
* Perform software development using Atlassian Tools: Jira for task management, Bitbucket for code repository, Fisheye/Crucible for code inspection, Bamboo for building and automated testing and Confluence for documentation
* Participate in developing software following the team’s ‘Definition of Done’ to ensure that each task is completed to meet customer expectations
* Identify issues, craft solutions and evaluate alternative technical solutions to meet customer expectations

Experience & Education Requirements / EEO:

**What You’ll Need to Succeed:**

* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or computer system engineering, or related engineering degree
* Basic knowledge of relevant software programming experience
* General experience developing software using C++, Java, JavaScript, Python, Shell scripting
* Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate key messages and ideas clearly and effectively
* Can cultivate meaningful relationships with your manager and members of your team, while being open and responsive to constructive feedback as they guide and mentor you
* The ability to think outside the box to help solve problems, with the humility to ask for help when needed
* Adaptability to a dynamic environment and the readiness to take on any new tasks that are handed to you
* A motivation to achieve outcomes and results
* Capable of handling multiple tasks at once and completing them on time with mostly no errors
* An eagerness to develop professionally, continuously learn, and share knowledge with others


**Things That Would be ** ** _Great_** ** if You Brought to the Table:**

* Previous exposure via college courses or internships to the following:
* Telecommunication systems and software
* Agile teams to deliver exceptional outcomes using the Atlassian tool suite
* Developing software using Atlassian Tools: Jira for task management, R4J for requirements management, Bitbucket for code management, Fisheye/Crucible for code inspection and Confluence for documentation

**We’ll also need you to** **:**

* Be a US Citizen with no dual citizenships
* Be able to work in the office at least 2 or more days a week to foster collaboration with the team and stakeholders
