**The Position**
Due to our exciting growth, we are on the hunt for a **Software Engineer**
enhance our data analysis capabilities.
As a Software Engineer, partnering with our Director of Informatics, you will
be building Python-based applications and services applications to support our
internal data analysis needs. You will also contribute to enhancing our AWS
cloud capabilities and infrastructure as well as design and implement data
visualization solutions to provide meaningful insights and improve internal
decision makinging.

**Crucial Responsibilities…**
* Develop, maintain, and optimize Python-based applications and services.
* Leverage AWS services such as Batch, Lambda, CloudFormation, and ECS to build, deploy, and manage scalable and cost-effective solutions.
* Design and implement data visualization solutions, utilizing libraries and tools such as Dash, to provide meaningful insights and improve decision-making.
* Utilize infrastructure as code (IaC) practices, such as CloudFormation or Terraform, to automate provisioning and configuration management.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, design, and implement software solutions.
* Continuously research new technologies, tools, and industry best practices to stay current with emerging trends and improve existing solutions.
* Participate in code reviews, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
* Create and maintain technical documentation to support application development and maintenance.

**As a top candidate, you will possess…**
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
* 3+ years of professional experience in software engineering, specifically with Python.
* Strong experience with AWS services such as Batch, Lambda, CloudFormation, and ECS.
* Proven experience in data visualization, with a preference for candidates with Dash experience.
* Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, and related AWS services such as ECS.
* Experience using infrastructure as code (IaC) tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar.
* Knowledge of SQL and experience working with databases, such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar.
* Strong understanding of software engineering best practices, such as version control, code reviews, and unit testing.
* Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
* Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, agile environment.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
**Bonus if you have…**
* Familiarity with front-end software development and Javascript/Typescript.
* Exposure to big data technologies like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar.
* Familiar with Benchling ELN, life sciences, and laboratory data management.
