Job Description

Wonderment is an early-stage company in the fast-growing eCommerce market. We
are on a mission to empower brands to deliver exceptional customer experiences
and compete against the Amazons of the world.

Since our founding three years ago, we’ve grown quickly, bringing hundreds of
merchants onto the platform. We raised a $6 Seed from Underscore and CRV (the
leading firm for ecommerce SaaS) and are well-capitalized.

After establishing strong PMF, we’re now looking for a remarkable UI / UX
designer (aka you!) to help us build a beautiful, loveable, usable platform
for our customers.

As the inaugural product design lead, you have the opportunity to define the
entire product DNA of the platform and brand.

While the software exists today, we want you to look at it as a blank canvas.
You have complete authority to start over, anywhere.

This is not an optimizer role where your days are tweaking a few workflows or
increasing conversion rates a couple points here or there. In this role, you
are an inventor. You have the ability to design solutions that have never been
done before.

Your work will touch not only thousands of merchants, but the millions of end-
consumers they serve. Brands like Netflix, Feastables, Simplehuman, Igloo, and
Aviator Nation are powered by Wonderment.

In this role, you will work very closely with the 3 founders as if you are an
extension of the founding team. You will balance executing against a big
vision while solving for the day to day needs of our customers. Together,
we’ll work as a team to design solutions that have a meaningful impact on our
customers in helping them grow better.

**About you:**

* You are entrepreneurial at heart with a passion for early stage and all the chaos it brings. You may have started a company before or have very fond memories of working at a startup and want to do it again. You give any company 110% commitment as if you were a founder.
* You are someone that lives and breathes great design. You are not a pixel-pusher but a problem-solver. Your job is not only to design software that looks great but works great, and creates magical, “wow” moments for customers.
* You roll up your sleeves, have a great attitude in doing the dirty work, and move fast. You embrace agile / lean-startup, etc (framework of choice) to iterate quickly. You get paranoid that other companies will out-innovate us and want to solve customer problems better and faster.
* Customer feedback fills your soul. You use it as your guide.
* You embrace failure with testing and experimentation. Your motto is “more at bats means more chances for a home run.”
* You love to ask questions and understand the very deep route cause of customer problems and their emotions, and then translate that into must-have solutions customers didn't even know they needed.
* You are a pioneer. You don’t want to copy everything else that is already out there. You think most software UI of the last 10 years is so yesterday. You obsess over companies that introduced new UIs that are now the standard, like Notion, Trello, Airtable, etc. In 5-to-10 years, you want Wonderment to be famous for their UI and UX and start to see other companies copy it.
* You obsess over quality and in having a high-bar but not in perfectionism. Perfect is slow. You love finding ways to remove friction in the user’s journey. Less is more.
* You thrive with little structure but know how to prioritize your time and measure the impact of your work. You are outcomes-focused. You hate busy work. You know what problems are worth our investment and which solutions will create the most amazing results and experiences for customers.
* You often seek mentors outside the company and want to learn from the best of the best. You regularly sign up for other apps to test their UI and then bring learnings back to the team. You frequently scout Product Hunt for the next cool products.
* You are collaborative. Design is a team sport. You are the super connector between Customer Success, Product, Operations.
* You are competitive and aspire to be one of the best product designers in the industry. But you also know that life and work is about having fun, and look for ways to celebrate and bring joy to work every day.

**About the Role:**

* Lead the design of our software products from concept to completion
* Work with product managers to define user requirements
* Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs
* Collaborate with developers to make sure designs are well-implemented
* Test designs and make improvements based on user feedback
* Help design email and SMS templates for customer communication
* Lead design and feedback across the organization. As the first designer at Wonderment, you’ll have direction over Wonderment’s presentation.

* Engage in regular, creative conversations with our customers as we research new products, and build new features.
* Reporting to the Head of Product, you’ll work closely with the CEO, Head of Engineering, Engineering Manager, and other leadership roles across the organization.
* Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Design
* At least 5 years of experience in software product design
* Proficient in design tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
* Strong portfolio showcasing your design work
* Experience in e-commerce is a big plus
* Great teamwork and communication skills

**Benefits:**

* Competitive salary
* Health, dental, and vision insurance
* Work-from-home flexibility
* Fun, fast-paced work environment
* $250 quarterly stipend to spend on our customers store
* Opportunities for growth and learning

**About our team and culture:**

Having worked at some of the best SaaS and eCommerce companies (HubSpot,
Klaviyo, Drizly, and Wayfair), the founders are dedicated to building a
diverse and impactful company where employees are happy and growing together.

As an early employee, you’ll be joining as the founding member of the design
team, which means defining the trajectory of company and culture will also be
up to you!

We are a remote-first company and will always have flexible work policies that
allow employees to work from anywhere they are comfortable. You’ll not only
have a voice at the leadership level, but peer leaders who believe in the
value of your effort. Our Product co-founder Brian has worked on Product teams
at great companies like HubSpot and Klaviyo, and is a champion for great
design.
