Job Description

We’re hiring a senior software engineer (contract, 3+ months) to build a React
web app that helps organizations such as Stanford University and the State of
Hawaii improve human and environmental performance. 🧑🏿‍🤝‍🧑🏻 🍃 🏡 🌎

**The role:**

* write code across the stack and guide 2 engineers
* collaborate and work with engineers during 9a-5p PST hours or overlap for 5+ hours.
* contract for 3+ months
* you’re based in PST, MST or EST time zones; even better if in San Francisco

**About Roundhouse:**
Roundhouse is a software spinoff out of [MKThink](https://www.mkthink.com)
working with organizations to uncover hidden insights so they can make better
decisions across cultural, environmental & architectural dimensions.

Current customers include Stanford Law School, the State of Hawaii, Lawrence
Berkeley National Lab. Our analytics stem from internal data sources
(environmental sensors, patented computer vision technology), customer data,
and external sources.

We’re a team of technologists from UPenn, Cambridge, USF, Harvard, Berkeley,
Penn State, and Middlebury College. Our main office is in Ocean Beach, San
Francisco.

**What you’ll do:**

* write algorithms to translate 25 years of industry logic into software product
* apply best practices for app architecture & code structure to ensure codebase efficiency
* lead selection of software tools & libraries to meet product design capabilities
* leverage data from external APIs (environmental, financial, geospatial, etc.)
* leverage data from internal software & hardware sources (air quality sensors, computer vision, etc.)
* collaborate with Roundhouse software engineers, a designer, product manager, and data scientist.

**Who you are:**

Senior full-stack engineer:

* 2+ years of software engineering experience
* experience building full-stack web applications in a production environment (some combo of React, Typescript, Node.JS, Python, PostgreSQL or similar tools)
* you’ve led a software engineering team or are interested in being a leader to younger engineers

Skills you have:

* Front end: React, Typescript, Next.Js
* Backend: Node.JS, Python, Typescript
* DB: relational DB (SQL, PostgreSQL)
* Cloud: AWS suite (Redshift, Beanstalk)

Nice to have:

* You’ve built 0 to 1 products
* Experience in NoSQL, GraphDB, VectorDB
* Experience leveraging LLM / AI APIs & libraries
* Experience in 3D graphics libraries (e.g. 3JS, Unreal, Cesium)

Leader:
You collaborate with and guide the team around you to achieve technical goals.
