OVERVIEW
Spherical is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in developing
web-based tools that support living infrastructure in Los Angeles and beyond.
This is a full-time remote position.
ABOUT SPHERICAL
Spherical is a creative technology studio supporting projects regenerating the
health and integrity of Earth’s living systems. In collaboration with ARLA, we
are developing an open-source field kit of tools to support community-driven
climate resilience in Los Angeles and beyond. Co-designed with community
organizers, climate scientists, policymakers, and infrastructure developers,
these tools support collaborative dreaming into visions of equitable futures.

WHAT YOU NEED
7+ years of experience as a professional software developer
4+ years of experience working on full-stack web apps (SPAs) in
JavaScript/Typescript
Experience designing and maintaining database schemas
Passion for writing and maintaining automated test suites
Track record of championing best practices in past roles
Ability to work independently within a non-hierarchical team
Bonus points for experience with: cartography, Mapbox, geospatial data
visualization, realtime web apps, WebGL/3D graphics, accessibility

WHAT YOU’LL DO
Work on our realtime community engagement and mapping tool
Contribute to new feature development alongside other individual contributors
Lead the development of a robust test suite incorporating end-to-end and unit
tests
Inform the software architecture and lead major refactoring initiatives
