### About the Role
This is an incredible opportunity to be an early, foundational team member at
a climate-tech company solving a critical problem in one of the most important
and fastest-growing markets. As a Senior Engineer at Mangrove, you will help
develop our Inventory and Nexus products which require an emphasis on API
development, data modeling, and building abstractions to allow our clients to
build and maintain custom models to represent their specific carbon project.
### Responsibilities
* Architecting and implementing data integration, warehousing, and processing systems, including driving technical strategies that enable high throughput enterprise-level integrations
* Defining data schemas, specifications, and interfaces to reduce complexity and ease the consumption of data
* Implementing and maintaining AWS-hosted data infrastructure
* Set the stage for a robust test-heavy environment, giving the team confidence in deployments, dependency updates, framework upgrades, and a best-in-class customer experience
* Foster a healthy engineering culture that empowers engineers and balances rapid feature development with code health and application stability
* Have significant engineering ownership and autonomy in a climate-tech company that has the ability to support the growth of a necessary technology
* Continue to build on our security-first engineering culture and support the introduction of SOC 2 Type II compliance
### Qualifications & Experience
Successful candidates are likely to have the following qualifications and
experiences; we strongly encourage you to apply even if you don’t meet all of
the items below.
* 5+ years of experience working as a software engineer and building data-intensive applications in a high-growth environment
* Extensive familiarity configuring, operating, and using some combination of: relational and non-relational data stores (e.g. Postgres, Redis, DynamoDB, Redshift, Snowflake); event stream and processing (e.g. Kafka); data integration and transformation tools; data serialization; distributed and event-driven architectures (e.g. Lambda)
* Advanced proficiency with a modern web programming language (Ruby, Python, Javascript, Typescript, etc.)
* Experience building production Ruby on Rails applications is preferred
* Experience with cloud-native environments and Amazon Web Services
* Demonstrated success leading complex software projects with limited oversight in a distributed environment
* Passionate about delivering value for customers
### Skills & Traits We Value
* Believe in the power of small focused teams: you’ve seen the power of highly effective teams in software engineering and don’t default to hiring when faced with capacity constraints
* Proven ability to build: you’ve founded a company, owned a product in a larger organization and/or built a software product from the ground up
* Full stack engineering prowess: you have a broad understanding of web apps and app architecture - what you don’t know, you’re excited to learn quickly as you go
* Bias towards action: you get things done and can make decisions while understanding growth, product, and engineering tradeoffs
* Focus on core technology: believe in the use of tools, services, and vendors to augment our team and allow us to focus on our core technology
* Clear communicator: you can communicate with team members, users, and potential users clearly and succinctly
* Positive and optimistic: you’re excited to be building software to support the carbon market and are optimistic about the future we’re working to build
* Lead by example: you set an example in the company by operating with honesty, kindness, and integrity
