CRED iQ is a commercial real estate data and analytics platform that provides
actionable intelligence to CRE (Commercial Real Estate) and capital markets
investors. Launched in 2020, our proprietary platform was developed with
leading-edge technologies, and delivers real-time commercial real estate data
through a user-friendly interface. CRED iQ leverages big data, machine
learning technologies, and geospatial analytics that provides advanced
analytics to the CRE finance community. Subscribers to CRED iQ use this
platform to identify opportunities for investing, lending, distressed debt,
and acquisition.

**Role Overview**

As the Director of Application Engineering, you will spearhead the evolution
of our cutting-edge tech stack and product offerings, driving innovation and
efficiency. You will lead a small, dynamic team of engineers, overseeing the
technical aspects of our web application projects from conception to
deployment. This role requires hands-on development work, as well as strategic
planning with our CTO to set and maintain high standards of software quality
and reliability. The successful candidate will contribute greatly as to a
growing technical team and answer to the CTO. The candidate will serve as a
key member of the technology team that will spend approximately 75% of their
time building software and 25% managing a team of software engineers.

**Candidate Responsibilities**

As the Director of Engineering, your primary responsibility will be to lead
pivotal engineering projects, focusing on the strategic expansion and
continuous enhancement of the CRED iQ platform. The Director of Engineering
will also play a crucial role in strategic planning, setting technical
direction, and staying abreast of industry trends and advancements to maintain
the company's competitive edge. This role involves managing and mentoring
engineering teams, fostering innovation and technical excellence, and ensuring
efficient collaboration with other departments. This position requires a blend
of technical expertise, leadership skills, and a strong vision for the future
of technology within the CRE industry.

**The Ideal Candidate will have:**

• A proven track record in driving innovation within the tech space,
particularly in a startup or CRE Fintech environment.
• Exceptional communication skills to bridge technical teams and non-technical
stakeholders, ensuring seamless collaboration and project alignment.
• The adaptability to thrive in a startup environment where rapid change is
the norm and flexibility is the key to success.
• We have strong expectations for hands-on coding and development work, as
well as leadership, please understand the dual nature of the role.

**Required Proficiencies**

• Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering,
or a related degree is required
• Strong technical background with demonstrable experience in software
development, system architecture, design patterns, and engineering best
practices, in agile environments
• Proven experience as a technical lead or senior developer, preferably in a
startup environment.
• Strong proficiency in SPA development and managing external API integrations
• Extensive experience managing AWS infrastructures, including familiarity
with EC2, S3, RDS, and Lambda.
• Experience building, maintaining, and scaling relational databases, such as
PostgreSql or MariaDB
• 5+ years of experience in the engineering field, with a proven track record
of leading software projects and teams
• Excellent leadership and team management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, experience with large
datasets, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical
audiences
• Build data applications, products, integrate with third-party data and
technology platforms.
• Demonstrate expertise in comprehension and construction of complex SQL
queries.

o Oversee a diverse and highly skilled tech team distributed across various
U.S. locations, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration
o Mentor, coach and provide feedback on technical project execution
• Technical Leadership
o Ability to serve in a hybrid capacity as both a skilled, hands-on, full
stack developer as well as a leader.
o Develops and establishes functional strategy and tactics to ensure
successful completion of work that meets or exceeds organizational
expectations
o Build and maintain a roadmap in conjunction with our CTO and key
stakeholders
o Create and establish an efficient technical development process, focused on
agile and high paced iterations with customer focused deliverables.
• Visionary Planning
o Provide strategic direction for the Engineering department. Inspire, manage,
and lead the team through clear vision and effective mentorship.
• Operational Management
o Implement procedures for reviews, releases, and testing that enhance
engineering velocity.
o Manage deadlines and maintain Jira, experience with DevOps and agile
environments.
• Manage the core engineering machine - from typical agile planning and
management functions to process tweaks & productivity tool improvements.

**Compensation and Benefits Package**

• Salary of 130K - 150K
• Reports to: CTO
