Our team brings top researchers in physics-based battery algorithms together
with seasoned software engineers to build safety-critical firmware and large
scale machine learning systems. We bring with us decades of experience from
companies like Tesla, Cruise, and Google.

**Role**

Zitara has one of the most comprehensive battery performance datasets in the
world, consisting of terabytes of electrical and thermal battery data from
fleets of devices in the field and battery systems in our lab. Zitara builds
thousands of battery models on top of these datasets, and these models enable
our customers to use their batteries more safely and efficiently.

As a member of the Platform Software Team, you will design and implement data
transformation and analysis pipelines for complex physical data sources,
automate data capture from physical systems, assist with data entry and
quality maintenance tools for Zitara's lab and test engineering teams,
interface with Zitara's R&D teams, and share responsibility for the
observability and scalability of the technology you build.

In this role, you'll be expected to jump into at least one or two specific
well-defined projects immediately, and help define future projects to
streamline our operations as we grow.

**Responsibilities**

* Understand complex data and operations problems across multiple disciplines and apply software engineering methodology to attack them
* Make tactical decisions on scope and priority to effect a continuously-improving software system
* Proactively elicit requirements and feedback with cross-functional stakeholders and produce necessary documentation to ensure system changes meet operational needs and can be adopted
* Demonstrate professionalism and a commitment to best practices in a software engineering team

**Minimum Qualifications**

* Bachelors' in technical subject or equivalent proficiency
* 5+ years experience in industry data engineering
* 3+ years experience in one or more of the following specialties:
* Proficiency in time-series databases
* Automating data collection, storage, and validation
* Organizing and managing large, complex data sets
* Creating data and operations dashboards
* Proficiency in Python, SQL-based relational databases, and AWS services
* Experience shipping robust internal tools
* Clear and effective written and interpersonal communication skills
* Creative problem solving with limited resources and engineering constraints

****Preferred Additional Qualifications****

* Experience with ETL, ELT, or pipeline orchestration tools such as dbt, Dagster, and Airflow
* Experience in batteries, IoT, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering
* Experience writing software tools to automate physical processes
