Job Description

Brekland is an early-stage climate resilience agriculture company based in New
York that develops systems to help farmers protect their crops from billion-
dollar frost events. Brekland’s solution is a rapid-deployment, biodegradable
spray-on insulation system that coats and insulates crops hours prior to
frost. Our mission is not only to empower growers with the tools to protect
their crops, but do so at low cost, using less water and burning less fuel.
Brekland is supported by Activate, and is a Collab SFF, Gigascale Capital and
Safar Partners portfolio company.

**About the job**
We’re looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer to design and lead the
development of our hardware prototype. Your work will be critical to enabling
farmers to rapidly and efficiently apply our proprietary insulation product
and protect their crops.

About you:
• You’re a builder and deliver. You’re excited about building hardware, you
can own it from start to finish and can move quickly.

• You’re a resourceful problem solver. When faced with a new problem, you
identify multiple paths to find a solution and will make it happen.

**What you can expect:**
• We’ve completed a prototype, your role will be to continue to add
functionality and improve performance. You will use both off-the-shelf parts
and custom components you design and build when necessary.
• To meet our technical performance targets, you will help develop testing
protocols, identify areas to improve the hardware and lead the design and
iteration of those improvements.
• This role is predominantly in-person in our labs in Brooklyn, NY.

**Key qualifications:**
• Either a BS/MS in mechanical/chemical engineering (or related field), a
track record of building hardware prototypes, or both.

• A comfort with hydraulics/fluid mechanics, ideally having designed and built
systems that deal with fluid flow
• Ability to design and fabricate parts and components, ideally this includes
an ability to draft CAD drawings.

**Things that can set you apart:**
• Experience working in agriculture, including building equipment, operating
equipment, or working in agricultural operations generally
• You’ve designed and built 2+ hardware prototypes
• Experience machining parts, welding, 3D printing and other component
fabrication skills

**Compensation:**
• Total compensation range between $130k-170k, plus equity and benefits.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and skills match
• Health insurance package available for full-time hire
