### About Us:

Percepta (<https://www.percepta.ai/>) is a fast growing, early stage ‘ethical
AI’ startup backed by Techstars and ADT Commercial. We develop real-time
computer vision solutions to combat shoplifting while reducing bias and
profiling in retail. Our AI focuses exclusively on shopper behavior to detect
shoplifting while stripping away all demographic information that identifies
people’s age, race, or gender. In short, we take bias out of the equation.
With our novel privacy-preserving and bias-mitigating AI, we are redefining
loss prevention - and ethical AI - for the 21st century.

### Position Overview:

You’ll be joining a scrappy, fast-moving technical team led by our co-founder
& CTO, ready to hit the ground running on day 1. You’re someone who doesn’t
balk away from responsibility and doesn’t fear complex technical challenges,
after all, you'll be among our early product engineering hires! In this
position, you will be involved in designing, architecting, and implementing
the Percepta interface, delivering value and insights to our users. If you’re
someone who is comfortable operating in a fast paced startup environment, who
desires a high degree of impact in what you work on, and who’s able to figure
things out and get things done, then we’d love to have you join us!

### Responsibilities:

* Design and develop a modern customer-facing web app
* Apply various programming languages and frameworks (e.g. Javascript, Python, CSS, HTML, React, Node) to create user-friendly applications and interfaces
* Create high-quality wireframes and mock-ups for web and mobile app product components

### Requirements:

* Fluency in Javascript and Python; intermediate to expert knowledge of HTML and CSS; past experience with frontend technologies and frameworks (e.g. React, Node, Django)
* Some experience in professional product design (UI/UX) and proficiency with popular design tools (e.g. Figma, Sketch, Adobe CC)
* Enthusiasm for joining a fast-moving venture solving large and challenging problems
* Portfolio of prior work is not required but preferred

### Bonus Qualifications:

* Proven track record of designing reactive, customer-facing websites that operate on a range of devices
* Experience with database model & schema design and management (e.g. via Django Migrations)
* Basic familiarity with AWS cloud technologies (e.g. EC2, DynamoDB,) or similar technologies (e.g. GCP, Azure) is a plus

We're currently remote but do operate out of NY East Coast time zone!

Percepta focuses on Retail, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Artificial
