Fruitminder is the next step in the science of understanding the complex plant
world.
Born out of the practical need of a local NZ Cromwell-based orchardist we’re
building a product we can export from little old New Zealand to the world.

**The problem we’re solving:**

* Horticulture is gathering vast amounts of data, but the insights are not actionable and are siloed.
* Information about a trees phenotyping is lost after harvesting.
* Information about spray and fertilizer application is currently only compliance-facing.
* Compliance challenges are increasing.
* Labour costs are increasing.
* Growers are using sensors, computer vision, and satellite imagery among other things to collect data on crops. But it hasn't led to more understanding.
* Agriculture’s rapid digitization is producing overwhelming amounts of data, but very few actionable insights.

By utilizing a combination of cutting-edge technologies such as robotics,
sensors, data modelling, machine learning, and simulation, we are able to give
every tree a digital identity and cross-reference all data points. Our goal is
to accelerate crop trials and improve yield by automating in-orchard
phenotyping and utilizing knowledge from modelling partner data sets.

With our app, growers have all the information they need at their fingertips
in a simple and intuitive way, eliminating the need for double handling. The
reporting dashboard gives management a comprehensive view of all data streams,
simplifying insights and making sense of complexities.

Fruitminder will organize the world's horticultural data and become the
digital intuition for growers, providing the back-end infrastructure and
leveraging expansive datasets to drive a new way of thinking, forecasting, and
understanding the drivers of yield.

The backend data infrastructure we are building is similar to what
[Mineral](https://mineral.ai/) does for crops or what
[MINDA](https://www.lic.co.nz/products-and-services/minda/) does for dairy
cattle.

### 🤲 The Opportunity

THIS IS A NON PAID GIG, but... you get to own a big part of the business! We
have a large CRM of customers ready to be onboarded (happy to share on
request). To get them onboarded, there's about 3 months of 10-20hrs a weeks
worth of coding to get the features we need to onboard these customers.

Why is this post going up? I've had two other opportunities pop up, that are
very close to my heart, so I've had to jump on them. So my focus is now not on
this, hence looking for someone to take the reins on engineering.

* Work with exciting technologies - Make sense of complex data streams.
* We are looking to trail an integration with some world first machine learning on 3D point clouds. Technology developed by UC-Vision at the University of Cantebury.
* Equity in the company from early on in the journey.
