**Role Overview**
We are seeking a senior backend software engineer to join our talented team.
In this role, you will be responsible for the design, improvement, and
expansion of the backend infrastructure and systems that power our products.
You will be tightly integrated with the product team and will work closely
with frontend engineers to ensure seamless integration and optimal
performance.
We employ a strong, domain-driven design approach to building our product. You
will gain a deep understanding of the world of metals recycling and will
support on domain-driven decisions to deliver value to our customers. We are
looking for someone who is self-motivated to deliver complex features with
autonomy.
You will make key decisions on greenfield projects as well as improve and
optimize existing systems. We care about code quality and clean abstraction
that don't break things as we scale and ship quickly. As we continue to grow,
you will play a key role in the architecture, scalability, and reliability of
our product offerings.
**Responsibilities**
* Leading expansion and enhancements of core backend data models and algorithms
* Creating clean abstractions around material and industrial equipment data
* Delivering implementations for new/existing customer processes
* Owning the design and delivery of backend systems and APIs
* Collaborating with frontend and data engineering teams to integrate systems
* Developing and deploying new hardware integrations
* Optimizing performance and scalability of our product
* Providing backend technical leadership to the engineering team
* Mentoring junior engineers
* Supporting the backend literacy of the engineering team
* Participating in code reviews and providing feedback
**Requirements**
* Proficiency in C#, .NET Core, and Entity Framework Core
* Strong experience with SQL and database systems (PostgreSQL)
* Experience with web frameworks (ASP.NET)
* Experience designing RESTful APIs
* Strong understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms
* Strong interest to learn about and contribute to the metals recovery domain
* Excitement in joining a seed-stage startup and growing the company
* You must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis

**Nice-to-haves**
* Mathematics and statistics background
* Strong understanding of dos-and-don'ts in statistical problems
* Exposure to graph theory and linear algebra
* Practical experience with infrastructure/DevOps
* Experience with IP networking
* Knowledge about PLCs and/or industrial automation
* You have worked at a startup and have experience shipping products at a startup pace
