**Why Bookairfreight?**
Dealing with logistics providers is an inefficient, messy experience. We make
it easy. We’re taking a very real problem and solving it, and have the revenue
to show for it. Simple as that.
We want you to come in and own take ownership of our backend services,
including our shipment pricing engine, shipment management services, and
invoicing system. This is a great opportunity to come in and work on a
production system that has been active for several years - there's work to be
done improving code quality, system performance, and building out new
features.
The customer. The customer. The customer. Companies like Amazon and Netflix
got to be where they are by obsessing over the experience for their users.
We’re obsessed with our customers, and so are you.
**You**
* Have 3+ years in backend development, very ideally in Python
* Have an understanding of DBMS - we use PostgreSQL but any SQL equivalent is fine.
* Communicate well in English - you'll be coordinating with our CTO as well as frontend engineers.
* Are excited about all aspects of software development - we have a lot of legacy code that needs to be modernized, new features to build out, and optimizations that need to be made.
* Interested in logistics - can think globally. This isn’t a San Francisco startup selling to other San Francisco startups. Shipping runs the world and we want to be its backbone.
* Want to work remotely, and have a guarantee that you won’t be forced back into the office after the pandemic has settled. Bookairfreight is REMOTE FIRST.
**The job:**
* Work with our CTO to take ownership of backend systems
* Build out new systems and add functionality in existing ones in Python.
* Write unit + integration tests.
* Collaborate with the frontend engineering team to build out API's.
**More about the co-founders:**
Our founding team comes from a background of high-growth tech companies and
logistics. We’ve built Bookairfreight with a simple philosophy - find a pain
point small businesses have to deal with (getting air freight quotes) and
delight them with a simple solution that makes their lives significantly
easier.
If you’d like to build and scale a startup with co founders who think
practically about developing software and are ready to take on the global
logistics market, we’d love to talk to you. We’re obsessed with building
better solutions for our customers, constantly thinking about professional
growth, and make it a point to solve any problems that come our way. And we
want to partner with someone that feels the same way. There’s a ton of work to
do, and if you’re up to the challenge we need you on our team.
