In Office (New York, NY; San Francisco, CA) | Remote (United States)
$170,000 - $220,000
At Airplane, we're building better infrastructure for internal tools. We
believe that every company will become a software company, and behind the
scenes these businesses are powered by humans and an ever-growing collection
of tools. We provide building blocks for engineering teams to rapidly develop
best-in-class tools.
Weβre a small team; we have offices in SF and NYC and favor asynchronous
collaboration. We move fast, build high quality systems, and don't take
ourselves too seriously. π
About the role
We're hiring the third product designer to join the design team at Airplane.
As an early member of a small design team, the scope of this role will flex
the entire Airplane product ecosystem, and will play a critical role in
defining the product design direction of Airplane. At Airplane, we put
engineers and designers directly on business problems, and you'll be working
with a small team on end-to-end product design, roadmapping and delivery.
Expect your nature of design work to be "full-stack" \- you're comfortable
doing whatever it takes to build a stellar product, from conceptualizing to
shipping to scaling it.
Some design themes you can expect to work on:
Up-leveling the developer experience and tools β developer being the persona
that builds with Airplane. This can manifest in the form of novel developer
tools and interfaces that supercharge specific workflows, software
abstractions that enable new ways of building, or platform capabilities that
unlock new functional building blocks.
Designing for operator excellence β operator being the persona that uses the
internal tools built via Airplane. This entails defining what operator
excellence means, and designing the core "operating system" and the future
standards of how work gets done in business software.
Figuring out what the next big thing is for Airplane β¨
What we're looking for:
Passion for computational tools and rethinking how software is built
Obsession with craft and excitement to sweat the design details
Desire to work with a small team and build 0 to 1
4+ years experience in Product Design roles (or equivalent)
Benefits
Interesting and challenging problems to solve
Experienced founding team to learn from
Competitive salary and equity
Generous budget for laptop, monitors, and other office equipment
Remote work, hybrid optional
Health, dental, and vision insurance
401k plan with matching
Unlimited vacation policy
