**Principal Backend Engineer and Architect**
Remote

**Position Description**
Are you an experienced backend software engineer (7+ years) who has designed
and built end-to-end products from scratch and launched successful products
with a small but mighty team? Are you itching to build software whose primary
purpose is to improve people’s health? As the Principal Backend Engineer and
Architect, you will design and implement our healthcare services lines. The
work includes overall responsibility for logic and workflow design,
implementation of sensible APIs to support web and mobile products, dev ops
support, risk assessment and security assurance, data science integration,
management of all aspects of engineering, as well as the close collaboration
with product, business, data science, and QA.

has been designated a Breakthrough Device by the FDA (Software as a Medical
Device) and is the scientific and user experience design industry leader. With
a small but mighty team we have accomplished the impossible: We’ve made it to
the other side of the med device Valley of Death with unprecedented science,
superior interaction design, and the maintenance of a common-stock majority
ownership (wait, what?!). The 2024 commercialization of our proven product and
services will be a historic first in the healthcare industry. We’re looking
for the principal engineer who has the chops and commitment to lead the
technical charge.

**Responsibilities**
Architect and develop systems in Python to meet technical, scientific, and
business goals.
Design, implement and maintain APIs in Python (Django).
Design database schemas, implement efficient queries (PostgreSQL / RDS).
Manage the company’s infrastructure on AWS. You will ensure that the company’s
infrastructure is secure and HIPAA-compliant.

**Requirements**
Extensive experience as a Python developer. You know the standard library back
of hand and can solve problems by manipulating the language’s core data
structures.
Strong experience with Django or another Python web framework.
Experience writing queries, designing schemas, tuning performance with at
least one relational database (we use Postgres).
Solid debugging and problem solving experience.
Experience working at an early-stage startup.
