**The Role**
We have an exciting opportunity for a Lawyer to join our growing Project
Approvals and Native Title team.
Our Project Approvals team is the heart of our Resources and Renewables
practice, and our firm’s Native Title practice. The team advises on all
aspects of project development and compliance – including ESG related issues,
tenement and regulatory issues, native title and cultural heritage, land
access, environmental issues, offsets, land rehabilitation, carbon emissions
management and access to water.
The Project Approvals team advises clients from a range of industries –
mining, gas, energy, renewables, carbon, development, and infrastructure. The
team’s clients include international miners, junior explorers, players in the
carbon industry, government departments, local councils, GOCs, and developers.
The role will see you working directly with clients, travelling out of the
office for key native title negotiations, and working on a number of exciting
renewable energy projects. We want you in front of our clients – not in the
back office.
More than most, the team champions a ‘hands on’ approach, where you can take
ownership of matters and clients with the close support of the partners. With
ample client-facing opportunities and direct access to partners, the role will
accelerate your career path.
As a valued member of the team, you will be encouraged to be part of the
group’s culture, from taking part in the firm’s seasonal functions to
celebrating our successes. Learning and development is a key benefit of this
role, and you will be directly trained and supervised by the partners in the
team. You will also have access to the firm’s full suite of formal training
options, which include mentoring, CLEs from all practice groups, and external
training seminars paid for by the firm.
**Experience**
We are looking for someone with 2 - 5 years post admission experience.
Ideally, you will have experience in one or more of the following – tenements
and regulatory issues, land access, environmental issues, native title and
cultural heritage, carbon, water, or stakeholder management.
