Job Description

**About the Role**

* Design and develop mobile and progressive software systems that delight our end users (adolescent patients and their families as well as InStride clinical staff)
* Help build maintainable, scalable systems ,that are thoroughly tested, documented, and have proper metrics and monitoring
* Help manage external development resources
* Mentor less-experienced engineers, review code, and teach the engineering group better practices
* Interact with users on a regular basis, trying to understand their problems
* Work with our support team to diagnose production issues and fix them as quickly as possible
* Be an active, creative, agile team member that pushes new features and code every iteration
* Report to the VP of Engineering and be involved in major technical decisions as we evolve our technology stack

**What You Need to Succeed in the Role**

* 5+ years of experience writing and maintaining Production ready cross-platform Mobile applications in frameworks such as Flutter, React Native, or Ionic
* Experience working in Healthcare Technologies is a plus
* Strong communication skills
* Understand when it’s better to write a comment vs. self-documenting code
* Can clearly communicate technical information in a straightforward, easy to understand way
* Proficient at debugging production issues
* Experience working with a remote team is a plus
* Familiarity with AWS is a plus
* Have a strong understanding of APIs and state management
* Can effectively teach other engineers new techniques
* Find defects and architectural problems when reviewing code
* Comfortable working at a startup which moves fast with tight deadlines
* Collaborate well with others and are dedicated to the company’s success
* Frequently share your opinions and challenge assumptions
* Solid understanding of how to prioritize projects and make tradeoffs between nice to haves and must haves
* Comfortable learning on the job and working with unfamiliar tools
