We are hiring engineers to build innovative products that will transform civic
engagement and participation for the 21st century. Our solutions help build,
support, and scale healthy civic participation, community engagement, and
lifelong learning **for everyone**. Our first product is built to support K-12
schools and helps them to streamline civics, college, and career education.
**The Role**
Local Civics is looking for a Head of Engineering with experience managing
projects and teams end to end. You will be responsible for helping to scale
our technology platform to impact millions of K-12 students and support
educators along the way. We are looking for this person to grow with us as the
company grows and to take on more senior leadership capabilities.
**Requirements**
* You have experience building products end-to-end and shipping production quality code quickly
* You have real-world experience building and running highly productive engineering teams
* You understand how to build systems that enable fast product iteration and are comfortable weighing trade-offs between functionality, quality, and technical debt.
* You have experience working with backend services or distributed systems
* Strong knowledge of API development and data modeling
* Ability to write REST server/client in backend language, Golang a plus
* You have strong written and verbal communication skills and a desire to create an open and collaborative team culture.
* You have a passion for education and strong belief in civic participation
