Job Description

The Director of Engineering at Happied will lead our engineering team,
fostering a culture of excellence and collaboration. The ideal candidate will
be a strategic thinker who understands the intricacies of product development
and is adept at aligning engineering goals with overall business objectives.

A successful Director of Engineering at Happied should not only possess the
**technical proficiency** to build and scale a world-class product but also
demonstrate **strong leadership qualities.** They should have the ability to
envision the future of technology in relation to the company's goals and
inspire their team towards that vision.

A good Director of Engineering balances technical skills with soft skills,
ensuring clear communication, effective team collaboration, and a deep
understanding of both the technical and business aspects of the company. They
should be adept at decision-making, problem-solving, and fostering an
environment of continuous learning and innovation.

**In addition to being a manager, this role will also be expected to write and
ship code (at least for the time-being).**

**Key Responsibilities**

* Lead, mentor, and build a team of engineers, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
* Oversee the development and implementation of our products, ensuring technical excellence and alignment with our business goals.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop a comprehensive product strategy and roadmap.
* Write, test, and ship code.
* Ensure effective communication with all stakeholders, translating complex technical concepts into understandable terms.
* Drive the adoption of best practices in software development, including agile methodologies.
* Manage the technology stack, ensuring proficiency in Ruby on Rails, React, and cloud services like Heroku/AWS.
* Monitor industry trends and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential impact on our products and processes.
* Ensure the scalability and security of our applications.

**Required Qualifications**

* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related work experience.
* Proven experience in a senior engineering role at a B2B company.
* Experience at a startup.
* Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails.
* Strong proficiency in React.
* Strong proficiency in cloud services (Heroku/AWS).
* Strong proficiency integrating with third party products and libraries. A big plus if you’ve integrated with Slack, Zoom, and Typeform previously!
* Interested in the development of AI to improve current product.
* Demonstrated understanding of product strategy, roadmapping, and agile processes.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* Strong leadership skills, with a track record of mentoring and developing engineering teams.**
