💰 $100,000 - $150 🌍 New York City 📅 01/24/2025
### About The Role:
Offsite
([www.offsite.com](https://marketplace.offsite.com/inquiry?utm=engineeingjd)
makes it easy to plan team retreats, offsites, and conferences.
Used by hundreds of top startups, Inc 5000s, nonprofits, and other
organizations, Offsite is already a marketplace that has facilitated $10M+ in
spend on offsites and a growing user/client base.
We’re VC-backed (raised $3.2M seed from Automattic, makers of WordPress, as
well as Forum Ventures, and 60+ angel investors), capital efficient (ie not
burning lots of money, and in fact we were profitable in Q4 ‘24), and growing.
The engineering team is building the “go-to” platform and marketplace for
planning, booking, and managing Offsites. We’re looking for our next full-
stack engineer to help bring our marketplace to life (basically Airbnb for
offsites).
Specifically, we need someone who will take extreme ownership of Offsite’s
UX/UI, and work with the engineering team to help us get to Product-Market Fit
faster by making it easier for users and vendors alike to benefit from our
platform.
Ideally you’re experienced building various aspects of a B2B or “prosumer”
marketplace, and are looking to develop new products today as an individual
contributor.
Everyone on the engineering team is building the marketplace from the ground
up, and shipping key features such as a Stripe integration to facilitate
marketplace transactions, messaging, support for multiple vendors, attendee
and vendor dashboards, etc.
We work with TypeScript across the stack, using NextJS, Go, and GraphQL.
The ideal candidate would have at least 2-4 years of experience, works
collaboratively across the company including with non-technical roles, excited
to travel to 2 annual Offsite offsites and wants to help develop a category-
defining product and company.
### **Here’s some of the things you could be working on day-to-day:**
* Design and build frontend components from scratch or from mockups.
* Our frontend is built with React, NextJS and Typescript
* Working on backend functionality with a focus on clean code and testability.
* Our backend is Go, TypeScript and GraphQL
* Partnering with other teams (Sales, Client Success, Marketplace, and Operations) to help understand and design new features.
* CI/CD and DevOps maintenance work
* GitHub actions, DigitalOcean, and Vercel
### **Why Offsite?**
* Work from anywhere.
* Flexible hours. Work the hours that make sense to you. We’re results driven, not hours driven.
* 2 offsites annually with the entire company.
* Product impact and ownership. You’ll be making product decisions and you’ll have a high level of ownership over what we’re building. We’re new, so most of our engineering work is fresh, clean, greenfield development. For our front-end UX/UI, you can take extreme ownership.
* Pave your own career path. We’ll support you with career development resources. Whether you want an individual contributor role or a managerial role with us in the future, both paths should be available as we scale.
* We are potentially a category-defining company, with a real shot at becoming a 9+ figure business that gives you great upside on your stock options as an early employee.
### **Here 's what we're looking for in our ideal candidate:**
* We need a bar-raiser on the frontend design wise, but should also be capable of rolling up your sleeves and implementing features on the backend.
* Design and develop intuitive designs focusing on user experience.
* Take ownership of our frontend application, including standardization, design, development and guiding other engineers on UI/UX decision making.
* Professional experience building modern, well-architected APIs.
* TypeScript, Go, GraphQL and previous full stack engineering experience needed.
* Professional experience on the frontend.
* React, Vue, or a similar framework. Experience with Next.JS or Gatsby is a bonus.
* **Required** : Professional experience using modern strongly typed language
* C#, Go, Rust, Java, etc.
* General Database Knowledge
* Postgres or a similar SQL database.
* Familiarity with ORMs, migrations and writing freeform queries is a must-have.
* Understanding of Sync vs Async
* Understanding of Data structures, design patterns and algorithms
* Basic understanding of memory management
* Stack vs Heap
* Pass by value vs Pass by reference
* Experience integrating with third-party libraries such as Stripe, Twilio, Jira, DocuSign, Expedia or Navan (formerly TripActions), etc.
* Experience with general software engineering best practices, methodologies for building clean, scalable, modern applications. Including source control, testing, code-reviews, and CI/CD.
* **Willing and wanting to come join a small team and have a large impact on the state of technology and the product at Offsite.**
* **Willingness to take ownership and responsibility over portions of the product.**
* **We want to empower our engineering hires to feel in control over what they are working on.**
* **Has examples of previous professional projects and can talk through design, implementation and maintenance of project.**
### **Example Features you will be designing/optimizing/implementing:**
