**Engineering at Butter**
At Butter, we are building a world-class engineering team to transform
digitally and fundamentally change the food distribution industry for decades.
You will join a small, tight-knit group of engineers building the
infrastructure to handle the movement and transactions of hundreds of billions
of dollars worth of perishable food products.
Our team has full-stack responsibilities span backend, mobile, web, data
science, product, design, client implementation, and more. We are looking for
an all-star engineer who is passionate about constantly learning and excited
to work on challenging yet extremely rewarding product domains.
**What You’ll Achieve**
* Help lay the foundations of an incredibly talented team of driven, high-performing engineers.
* Learn and master concepts, technologies, and standards to invent new tools for the food supply chain. For example, you might build the next-generation system to power wholesale financial transactions or international seafood traceability.
* Work closely with product and design teams to build the best experience for our customers. Own the projects from start to finish: through conception, research, implementation, and maintenance.
* Acquire a deep understanding of a highly complex yet old-school industry that directly impacts all our lives.
* Gain exposure to all aspects of a startup business – from sales and customer success to strategy and beyond.
**Skills You’ll Need to Bring**
* 5+ years experience in building production software solutions.
* Craving for ownership. You genuinely enjoy owning projects end-to-end and are comfortable operating with a lot of ambiguity.
* Demonstrated track record of architecting and developing scalable production quality systems.
* Deep experience with one or more of the following: web app development, mobile app development, building large-scale distributed systems, or infrastructure management.
* Curiosity and desire to deeply understand customers’ pain points and apply that knowledge in your work.
* Pragmatism and business thinking. You care about the business impact of your build and can prioritize accordingly. You appreciate the importance of craft, speed, the bottom line, and balance.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in a cross-functional team to balance product and technical requirements.
