Job Description

### What we are building **👩🏽‍🔧**

Buddle is tackling the $800B financial and human problem of frontline worker
churn. Initially we are focusing on the retail, restaurants, and hospitality
spaces, whose labor pool of 35M individuals makes up 20% of the entire U.S.
labor force. Churn rates can be upwards of 150% on average, depending on the
company. This means individuals are unhappy, and companies’ top and bottom
lines are suffering.

We are building an end-to-end engagement software that will transform how
managers and employees experience their work. They are our end users, even
though we are a B2B SaaS play selling into the executive team of medium to
large companies. Our solution targets the reasons we have learned workers
leave their jobs (e.g., no visibility into career development, not feeling
recognized), which is a massive pain point for companies who are willing to
pay to resolve it.

### **About us 👋🏻**

### About Buddle

Buddle was founded by Jessica Cohen in NYC. In the first few months, she
worked alongside Buddle’s lead VC to: validate the pain point on the company
side (100+ expert calls), learn why employees leave their jobs (store visits
around NY + our own survey), mock up an initial solution in Figma, and confirm
several design partners.

### About the founding team

Jessica’s background is on the business side across consulting and GM roles in
consumer tech. Her focus areas are leadership, sales, fundraising, product
strategy, and cross-functional coordination. You can learn more about her by
visiting [LinkedIn.](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jessica-sydney-cohen/)

Maude joined as Founding Head of Product in June 2023. She has spent her
career in retail tech, building products of all scales at Jet.com, Amazon, and
Olive. Visit her [LinkedIn](https://www.linkedin.com/in/maude-navarre/) to

### **About the opportunity 🚀**

Having raised a pre-seed round, secured multiple design partnerships, and
begun testing our beta, it is now time to round out the founding team to build
our product! What our team is missing is a lead engineer. The trio of us will
work together as one organism to test and learn as fast as possible to reach
PMF… or as we prefer to think about it: create a digital product that our
users (frontline employees and their managers) love and want to use.

### **About you 🙂**

We are looking for someone who is capable of being the sole engineer on our
team for the next while and then has an interest in creating and leading a
team later on. This means being responsible for building and maintaining the
front-end and back-end of Buddle’s software, as well as managing our tech
stack and tooling. We anticipate that there will be new challenges every day
that will require doing something that none of us have ever done before, so we
do not expect you to have done it all. We’re looking for a hungry learner who
is passionate about solving the problem we are tackling.

More than anything, we are looking for someone who has the drive and desire to
join a pre-PMF team. Building at this stage is incredibly fun — and also
incredibly hard. The right person will be motivated by the opportunity to
build something really big with a lot of autonomy and is prepared to do the
work required to get there.

### Tech stack 🖥**

A lot (if not all) of the tech stack would be based on your preferences and
best practices. Little has been fixed around this, but we wanted to share some
detail based on where our thinking is now.

Below is a brief list of the frameworks you ideally would be familiar with
coming in:

* React.js for frontend framework
* REST API to communicate with the backend
* Tailwind CSS to make our app beautiful

Buddle focuses on Technology. Their company has offices in New York City. They
