At Fantoons, we want to see a billion stories bloom and a billion storytellers
come to life. We are building a platform for anybody who is a fan of something
in their life to continue to live with those characters and tell stories
within those worlds.
Fantoons is building a platform that uses generative AI and custom trained
models to build those worlds and a rich community to share those creations
with. And we’ve quickly grown to over 12,000 users in 11 weeks. Within 5
years, we will let the next generation of creators create their own
transformative original IP. We’re looking for a team of fellow creators, world
builders and storytellers to join our journey.
We’re looking for an experienced FullStack or Backend Engineer to build the
technical infrastructure and product that empowers Fantoons to move fast,
iterate and scale to millions of users. You are comfortable with Python or
Node.js and have had several years experience in developing and shipping
products in an autonomous, startup like environment.

**Responsibilities**
* Help build a strong architecture that can support growing to new users and new fandoms
* Get down and dirty with your work to find innovative technical solutions + not be afraid to try new things
* Have a strong background and/or interest in Generative AI
* Collaborate with Product and Engineering to build new features for the app
* Evaluate tradeoffs and technical challenges on key components of our backend
* Recommend and evangelize technical solutions to our user-centric problems
* Debug and resolve crashes and other issues our users encounter
* Help integrate native libraries and 3rd party systems
* Produce passion-driven feature proposal demos to push the team above and beyond our current visions
* Participate in code reviews with the team to foster an environment of collective understanding for all systems
* Cross train, teach, and learn about our respective domain expertise
* Be able to work autonomously. We believe that everyone should have autonomy over their work whilst being a great collaborator within the wider business
* We are a startup so we value speed of shipping and learning and we want people who are excited by this
**What We Seek**
* At least 5 years development experience of software development experience in a highly autonomous startup-like environment
* Have a strong interest or proficiency in using ML toolkits such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, etc.
* Strong experience in designing high stress software architectures and deploying them with a DevOps mindset on managed services and cloud providers (AWS)
* Experience with message brokers (message queues, pub/sub, websockets)
* You are autonomous and have already worked at a startup
* An interest in fandoms
