### Job Overview
As a Founding Engineer at Contour, you will be crucial in shaping our roadmap,
technical architecture, and company culture. You will work closely with the
rest of the founding team to design, develop, and deploy scalable software
solutions that address the unique challenges multi-location small businesses
face. Along the way, you will have the opportunity to help build Contour from
the ground up.
### Responsibilities
* Product Development: Lead the end-to-end development of our core software product, including architecture, design, coding, testing, and deployment.
* Collaboration: Work closely with the founding team to understand business requirements, contribute to product strategy, and deliver innovative solutions.
* Scalability: Ensure the platform is scalable, reliable, and secure to meet the needs of our growing user base.
* Continuous Improvement: Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to improve software quality and development efficiency.
* Customer Focus: Engage with early users to gather feedback, identify pain points, and iterate on product features to enhance user experience.
### Qualifications
* Experience: 3+ years of software engineering experience, preferably in a startup environment.
* Technical Skills: Proficiency in modern programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript) and frameworks (e.g., React, Node.js); exposure to statically typed languages preferred (e.g., Rust, Go).
* Full-Stack Development: Strong experience with both front-end and back-end development, including expertise in database design and management (e.g., Postgres)
* Problem-Solving: Excellent collaborative problem-solving skills, focusing on delivering practical and scalable solutions alongside a small, fast-paced team.
* Communication: Strong communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts.

* Startup Experience: Prior experience as a founding engineer or early-stage startup team member.
* Domain Knowledge: Understanding of accounting principles and familiarity with existing financial software.
