Job Description

**This is a U.S. only role restricted to resident citizens. We work with
government agencies, so this is a hard requirement.**

_(Clearance not required but is a plus.)_

GovPro AI is transforming government proposal writing with AI-powered
technology. We simplify the RFP response process by decoding complex
requirements and generating customized proposal outlines, compliance matrixes
and proposal drafts. Weโ€™re looking for a forward deployed engineer who is
passionate about AI and interested in the dynamics of federal procurement.

We're on a mission to integrate AI into the entire procurement process,
everything from the government acquisitions officer to proposal writers
working for federal contractors. Our clients love us and pay us an
unbelievably high premium for quality, reliability, and long term savings.
We've got a good revenue base that's growing rapidly, have raised our pre-
seed, and are looking to bring on a forward deployed engineer as we start
scaling out the business and our product offerings.

**This role is roughly 90% product facing, 10% customer facing.**

### So what am I actually going to do?

As a core responsibility you'll spend most of your time building on our core
offering with feedback from the CEO as well as our expert team of proposal
writers. Sometimes, you'll be working with our sales staff to build out vivid
demos to win new business. Other times you'll be a first responder on
incidents. We also have self-serve clients that you may be asked to assist,
and some portion of your time may be spent on customer calls answering
technical questions.

It's a mixed bag, but we have tons of exciting work and a chance to fix the
government procurement process -- something that costs taxpayers hundreds of
billions of dollars every year.

Generally you'll be working with our existing stack, which is almost entirely
TypeScript with a variety of prebuilt tooling, libraries and frameworks. We've
already built a ton of solutions with it, which means you'll be able to
quickly see "what works" and "what doesn't."

As an overview:

* Work with our non-technical staff to build out crucial product features and improvements.
* Report directly to the CTO and work in an ultra-lean remote team as a self-starter.
* Champion new lines of effort, building innovative solutions to increase our product offering.
* Plan and architect solutions for complex problems.
* Work with sales staff as a technical voice for customers, or to build custom tools for high value clients.
* Provision necessary materials: documentation, demos, proposals, diagrams, etc.

### Talk Perks to Me

Outside from the amazing work environment and opportunity to work with major
clientele, there are several perks you'll be hard pressed to find as a combo
anywhere else.

* 100% remote
* Hyper-flexible hours
* Laid back culture
* Loose policies: BYOD, unlimited PTO, no internal bureaucracy
* Challenging and ever-changing workstreams
* An early position at a fast growing company
* The opportunity to grow into leadership roles as the company scales
* Competitive salary & benefits

### So, are we a match?

We're looking for someone specific:

* 2+ YoE in TypeScript with illustrated depth of knowledge
* Vue.js (3) background on very real applications
* Development ideologies that match ours
* Well spoken and comfortable articulating/communicating complex concepts
* Comfortable working with the US Government. We primarily focus on the procurement process but want to be clear that contracts and materials we process are relevant to defense and military.
* U.S.-based citizen (hard requirement)
* Open to pursuing a clearance OR an existing/past clearance holder is a huge plus

In terms of raw experience, we look for 3 Equivalencies of Experience (EoE). 3
EoE is roughly:

* 3 Years of Experience, OR
* 6 **substantial** open source/hobbyist projects, OR
* 3 self-launches, OR
* a mix of the above

What does this mean? We don't care if you're fresh out of college if you have
demonstrable experience. (Broadly speaking we don't care whether you went to
college either.)

> **If you think you 're a good fit, please apply :)**

Our interview process goes like this:

* Very easy OA to check your familiarity
* Phone screen (15-30min)
* Constrained Design (50min)
* Mock Murderboard (30min, weird format)
* Crunch Testing (45min)

**Please don 't study for our interviews. We promise they are impossible to
study for!**

* They're like nothing else out there, and we're not "just saying that."
* They are meant to be taken cold and not well-practiced.
* We make them up from real world problems we've dealt with. You won't find them online.
* They are chaotic and meant to be fun!
* Prepping stresses people out, then they don't perform their best.

Don't stress too much about passing -- we don't have a set "bar" for passing
interviews, and no one we have ever interviewed or hired has ever come close
to a perfect run. Don't stress and just try to have some fun!

_Apparently word on the street is our interviews are like "case interviews for
engineers." This is false, please please please don't use a casing framework._
