**About the Executive Business Partner Position**

Aza Raskin is the cofounder of the Center for Humane Technology, one of the
minds behind the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma, and the cohost for
the podcast Your Undivided Attention. He is also the cofounder of Earth
Species Project, an open-source nonprofit dedicated to decoding animal
communication. Trained as a mathematician and dark matter physicist, he has
taken three companies from founding to acquisition, is a co-chairing member of
the World Economic Forum’s Global AI Counsel, helped found Mozilla Labs, and
has been named FastCompany’s Master of Design and listed on Forbes and Inc
Magazine’s 30-under-30.

We are looking for a seasoned Executive Business Partner to amplify Aza’s work
across his organizations. You are likely a senior professional who has a
proven track record of strategically supporting executives. You’re practical,
organized, great at creating thorough structures and plans, and carry things
out with responsiveness, thoughtfulness, and a high degree of quality. The
ideal candidate will have experience working closely with and forming
professional relationships with C-suite executives and prominent institutional
leaders and is at home in a dynamic and fast-changing environment.

to meet you. This role will report to Aza Raskin and manage the Executive
Assistant.

**Employment Details**

Terms: Full-time employee
Compensation & Benefits: $130K-180K annual salary (depending on experience
level), generous paid time off, medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401K
with 4% matching
Location: This role has a strong preference for candidates who are able to
work in-person in Berkeley, California, with some days of flexible remote work

**Key Responsibilities**

This role will act as a thought partner to and force multiplier for Aza,
working directly with him to carry out the missions and the operational
priorities across his initiatives. This includes:

1. Strategic thinking: act as a thought partner and right-hand to Aza through the many facets of his work, from strategy to relationship-building to first principles thinking

2. Prioritization and time management: keep Aza dynamically focused on top priorities while balancing a complex and changing set of opportunities, relationships, and projects

3. Project management: lead and manage a project management system for his work, ensuring both daily and long-term priorities are on track and prioritized appropriately

4. Inbox management: work with the Executive Assistant to triage Aza’s inbox, delegate or own portions of it, and come to Aza with one unified final to-do list

5. Calendar management: help prioritize and triage his calendar and time in partnership with the Executive Assistant

6. Strategic projects: scope, lead, or manage select strategic projects across both organizations

7. Turn concepts into briefs and project plans

8. Help with initial discovery and catalyzation of projects

9. Conduct research on strategic areas

10. Communication:

11. Help craft emails and work documents on Aza’s behalf

12. Act as a representative for Aza with internal team members across his teams, keeping strong two-way communication flowing

13. Help Aza manage external relationships, such as with funders, partner organizations, institutional leaders, and media‍‍

**Requirements**

* 8-15+ years of experience as a chief of staff, executive business partner, head of operations, program director, or senior executive assistant
* Very strong project management and operations skills. You are likely detail-oriented, bring order to chaos, are great at strategic logistics, and are exceptional at keeping the trains running on time.
* Prior experience building and catalyzing projects; in other words, turning vision into reality.
* Exceptional writing skills, with a gift for graciously navigating multi-stakeholder dynamics and communicating complex topics.
* Prior experience in small teams and early-stage startup environments that are dynamic and constantly changing is highly important.
* High emotional intelligence: self-awareness, feedback skills, listening skills, and growth mindset
* Proactive and creative problem solver who can take initiative, ask great questions, use first principles thinking, and learn quickly
* Be available and responsive during Pacific Coast working hours, with flexibility during certain sprint times to respond to high-priority messages during other hours
* Be at home working with software systems: Google Drive, Notion, Slack, Dropbox, Hubspot, Asana, and Streak
