Job Description

[TeachFX](https://teachfx.com) uses voice AI to show educators personalized
insights about the learning dynamics in their classroom, helping them
understand which of their instructional practices are making the greatest
positive impact on student engagement and equity. We're bringing together the
best of computational linguistics, machine learning, and education research,
to superpower teachers in their work. We just raised our Series A, and can't
wait to grow our impact!

As an Engineering Manager at TeachFX, you'll be a key leader of our company as
we scale, and you’ll help define TeachFX’s engineering culture. You’ll build
the systems that will support our growth, and will take ownership of projects
from inception to completion.

We are a deeply mission-driven company, working hard to develop tech that
revolutionizes teacher professional learning -- and we’re looking for an
Engineering Manager who wants to use their skills to power our mission.

**Responsibilities:**

* Leadership: Play a key role in engineering and product strategy, priorities, and culture.
* Recruitment: Grow our engineering team, developing a best-in-class hiring process that attracts talented and mission-aligned engineers.
* Strategy & Planning: Collaborate closely with our CTO and Head of Product to set the roadmap and scope projects.
* Implementation: Define and manage day-to-day engineering tasks and team responsibilities. Roll up your sleeves and jump into the codebase to provide guidance, support, and an extra pair of hands.
* Process: Work with the team to set our engineering velocity and culture, ensuring both speed and quality.
* Culture: Develop a team culture that our engineers love being a part of.

**You might be a good fit if:**

* You are passionate about cultivating a team. You have experience managing teams of 5+ and care about creating a thoughtful engineering culture.
* You are experienced in hiring top engineering talent. You are passionate about building diverse, high-performing teams with a range of backgrounds, experiences, skills, and perspectives.
* You're a strong technical contributor. You have a solid foundation in computer science with strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design. You are not afraid of gnarly technical challenges and to roll your sleeves up where needed.
* You have an ownership mindset. You have worked in startup (or startup-like) environments where embracing responsibility is key to success.
* You're an excellent collaborator and communicator. You enjoy acting as a thought partner to colleagues across the company. You are adept at communicating with both technical and non-technical team members, and have a strong appreciation for documentation.
* You jive with our mission. You are excited to have an impact on tens of millions of students' lives through your work.

**Our tech stack:** We use React, React Native, Django, Postgres and GraphQL.
In addition, we use Airflow, Vertex AI, Docker, Expo, BigQuery, Data Studio,
and other Google Cloud Platform services.

_TeachFX is an equal opportunity employer and we value diversity at our
company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color,
national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran
status, or disability status._
