**_Microchip Technology Inc. has an opening for an Engineer I – Software
Development position in Houston, Texas. In this role, the candidate will work
as a full stack developer to enhance and maintain a custom, in-house test
automation framework used by internal teams for validating Microchip storage
products in a fast paced, non-stop, automated test environment. The candidate
will also assist in maintaining existing infrastructure servers and network
hardware components to support the internal QA test teams._**
_**Responsibilities:**_
* **Design and develop frameworks and tools using PHP, JAVA, Python and bash/shell scripting.**
* **Design, develop and maintain MySQL databases to enhance the capabilities of automated testing teams.**
* **Work as part of a team to develop, execute, maintain, and document the test infrastructure solutions and processes.**
* **Work with multiple internal QA test teams to support and provide continuous improvement of the automated test environment.**
* **Maintain servers and other hardware and software components that provide the infrastructure used by the automated QA test environment.**
* **Work within a team to track and provide estimates for tasks by utilizing and following the Agile development methodology.**
* **Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects and activities for Microchip’s quality assurance organization.**
_**_Requirements/Qualifications:_**_
* _**Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.**_
* _**US Citizenship/Permanent US Residency Required.**_
* _**2+ years of proven software development and programming experience in web development languages (HTML, CSS, JSON, JQUERY, SQL, PHP, JAVA and Python).**_
* _**Good understanding of object-oriented design and programming best practices.**_
__**Preferred Qualifications:**__
* __**Experience with Microchip’s L1 Automation test framework.**__
* __**Familiar with NFS and SVN configuration and administration.**__
* __**Experience with machine learning concepts and implementation.**__
* __**Experience with integrating web-based cloud data and storage solutions.**__
* __**Experience installing and maintaining Linux operating systems.**__
* __**Strong design, analysis, and debug skills.**__
* __**Excellent verbal and written communication skills.**__
