Job Description

Phrase Health is an early-stage health technology company that turns data into
insights for hospitals seeking to improve their processes, clinician
workflows, and patient outcomes. Phrase had early success as a spin-out of the
Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia with a tool that democratizes access to
data for electronic interventions like alerts to doctors and nurses. Phrase is
now at an inflection point in which the company has spotted opportunities to
expand to new data sources, map rich data sets to meaningful outcomes.

The Data Scientist will work to develop a reusable library of quantitative
healthcare quality measures, empowering our clients to improve quality and
drive down hospital readmission due to conditions like acute myocardial
infarction (AMI), chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) or congestive
heart failure (CHF).

Keys responsibilities include:

* Working with client stakeholders to understand the drivers of healthcare system quality
* Identifying key metrics and the EHR data sources that will define them
* Cleaning and refining EHR data
* Creating queries to fuel quality measurements across multiple institutions
* Working with data engineers to put measures into a production data pipeline
* Developing and validating requirements
* Respect for patient privacy and HIPAA rules

A deep understanding of SQL and a data science friendly language (e.g. Python)
is integral to excelling at this role. Similarly, it is important to have a
couple of years prior experience having developed, tested, and deployed your
creations to a production setting. Previous demonstrations of conveying
complex data and statistics into meaningful insights via visualizations or
other means is highly desirable.

The ideal candidate for this role will have had at least four years of
experience and be able to do the following: :

* Ability to work independently and communicate effectively in a team environment
* Proficient with SQL and a data science language like Python
* Proficient with statistical significance, correlation and statistical process control
* Experience getting data into a usable state for analysis
* Ability to write, test and document ideas and translate them into code
* Familiarity with Github, AWS and working on the command line
