to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the backend and devops
platform of our revolutionary social media app.
We're building the world's next great social platform – one that brings us
together again in the real world. Our app allows anyone to create awesome
guided activities that you do with your friends in the real world. You’ll be
joining a veteran team of entrepreneurs with multiple funded startups,
Y-combinator graduates, and deep social platform expertise.
**Responsibilities:**
* Review, build, and scale our existing APIs (GraphQL and one lambda), databases (DynamoDB), video conversion service (AWS MediaConvert), image service (lambda), and authentication (Cognito).
* Optimize system performance and scalability to handle a large number of concurrent users and data efficiently.
* Design and implement the first CI/CD pipelines, streamlining the development and deployment workflow (currently AWS Amplify).
* Establish and enforce coding standards and best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and maintainability of the codebase.
* Grow, lead and mentor the backend and devops teams, fostering a collaborative and growth-oriented environment.
* Work closely with founders to grow cross-functional teams.
**Requirements:**
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
* Proven experience as a Backend Engineer with a focus on building scalable and robust systems.
* Extensive knowledge of AWS services, including AWS MediaConvert, Lambda, and Cognito.
* Expertise in setting up CI/CD pipelines
* Strong leadership skills, including team building and mentoring experience.
* Solid understanding of security best practices and data privacy.
* Strong problem-solving skills and creativity to tackle unique challenges.
* Adaptability to learn and adopt new technologies and best practices as needed.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with a diverse team.
Bonus:
* Previous experience in helping design and building data pipelines
* Proficiency in GraphQL APIs, serverless architectures (AWS Lambda) or DynamoDB.
* Exposure to AWS Amplify.

**Location:**
Fully Remote (EU Timezones)
**Compensation:**
We offer a competitive compensation package that begins with a commitment of
approximately 15 hours a week in exchange for equity, starting in September.
We anticipate transitioning to an hourly paid position by October-November,
with the goal of moving to a full-time role by January 2024. In addition, we
provide flexible working hours and a vibrant work culture that encourages
innovation and personal growth.
The interview will consist of an introductory call, followed by a 1.5h tech
interview.
