### **About You**

Yembo is looking for a Director of People to join us in helping to achieve our

### **Responsibilities**

* **Strategic Leadership:** Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company's goals and values, ensuring a strong foundation for future growth (i.e. programs and policies that can scale from 50-100, 100-150 employees, etc.)

### **Management: Support, coach and manage, our talented HR team, including
our People Ops Generalist**

* **Talent Acquisition:** Work with our People Ops Generalist to oversee the end-to-end recruitment process, from sourcing and interviewing to onboarding, to attract top-tier talent that drives the company's success.
* **Performance Management:** Design and manage performance evaluation systems, providing guidance to managers on employee development and growth opportunities.
* **Cultivate Culture:** Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture through ongoing initiatives, programs, and policies that prioritize employee well-being and engagement, including our annual offsite, happy hours, team meetups, and more.
* **Employee Relations:** Address employee concerns, resolve conflicts, and ensure a harmonious work environment while adhering to labor laws and regulations.
* **Learning and Development:** Maintain and iterate on growth tracks, training programs, and leadership development initiatives that nurture employee and management skills and career progression.
* **Total Rewards, Compensation and Benefits:** Manage all compensation structures, benefits programs, and recognition systems that attract and retain top talent.
* **HR Data & Metrics:** Keep all HR policies and processes updated and compliant with state law, manage and update employee data, and analyze HR metrics to provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement in HR processes and organizational effectiveness.

### **Requirements**

* Proven experience (4+ years) in HR manager or leadership roles, preferably in remote startup or SaaS environments
* Strong knowledge of federal and multi-state labor laws, managing global employees and contractors (i.e. EOR management/administration), regulations, and HR best practices
* Experience with the entire employee lifecycle, including onboarding, promotions, performance improvement plans, RIFs, layoffs, terminations as applicable
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with business goals
* Strategic thinker with the ability to solve complex problems and drive change
* Experience managing efforts in talent acquisition, performance management, employee engagement, and organizational development
* Experience with scaling and managing an HR/People team at various stages and levels you know when to get creative with current resources, or when to scale and look at new flows and processes
* Experience using and managing HRIS systems and PEO platforms - we use [Rippling](https://www.rippling.com/)
* Experience managing Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and Candidate Management Systems (CMS) - we use [Greenhouse](https://www.greenhouse.com/)
* Experience managing performance management and career development tools, as well as encouraging strategic use and adoption - we use [Lattice](https://lattice.com/)
* Able to multitask and complete multiple projects, thrives in a fast paced environment
* Personable and empathetic - you genuinely care about building meaningful connections with all employees, and making sure they're supported and heard throughout their Yembo experience
* Proactive and solution oriented - you see challenges as opportunities to learn, experiment and take action
* Curious and innovative - you're constantly in learning mode, are driven by feedback and are eager to grow and improve
* Data driven - you value data and assess employee data and metrics to adjust your strategy and balance priorities for the People team
* Resourceful and persistent - no tasks are too small, you go above and beyond to complete projects, and are creative with how you get things done

### **Bonus:**

* HR certification (e.g., PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP)
* Experience in scaling HR operations during periods of rapid growth
* Familiarity with remote work and distributed team dynamics
* Experience with running payrolls
* Experience with Notion or similar wiki tools, or Jira and other project management ticketing tools
* Experience with EOR management platforms, i.e. Rippling, Deel, Remote, etc.
* Experience with building or scaling internship programs, as well as building a presence for virtual or in person job networking events (i.e. career fairs, tech meetups, etc.)

### **Outcomes**

Once you join Yembo, here's how you can expect to make an impact:

**In your first 1 month, you 'll:**

* Familiarize yourself with the Yembo's mission, core values, and company culture
* Get familiar with our current HR tech suite (Rippling, Greenhouse, Lattice, Notion, etc.)
* Meet with the exec team, department heads and their teams to learn more about their current HR business needs and processes (i.e. feedback and engagement, learning and development, performance management, etc.)
* Work with and get to know our People Ops Generalist, Sr. Operations Manager and VP of Finance in department and cross-collaborative projects
* Get familiar with our current HR processes and OKRs, start brainstorming ideas and strategies that align with quarterly OKRs and monthly commits

**In your first 3 months, you 'll:**

* Establish a strong rapport with the executive team and key stakeholders to understand the company's culture, values, and immediate HR needs
* Conduct an in-depth assessment of the current HR landscape, identifying areas for improvement and implementing quick wins
* Manage all HR processes or initiatives for the company and track team progress
* Are comfortable leading team meetings, both within the department as well as the company (i.e. All Hands)
* Be comfortable managing any of our HR tools and processes independently and as Yembo’s main POC
* Be comfortable with Yembo’s existing HR documentation and policies, and regularly update them as applicable
* Manage all crucial HR functions, including talent/performance management, benefits, payroll, compensation, etc.

**In your first 6 months, you 'll:**

* Develop a comprehensive HR strategy that aligns with the company's growth plans and fosters a positive work environment.
* Roll out targeted employee development initiatives that address skill gaps and support career progression.
* Continually improve and cultivate a culture of open communication, respect, and inclusivity, reflected in improved employee satisfaction and engagement metrics.

### Salary Range: $100,000 - $160,000 USD
