**About the Role**
As a Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer at Vanna Health, you’ll work on a
cross-functional team, made up of you, a product manager, a product designer,
and several other engineers. The entire team is collectively responsible for
discovering and delivering solutions that help achieve our mission of
improving the health and wellbeing of individuals with SMI. Doing so will
require a thoughtful balance of technology and human touch, and an ability to
influence your teammates and stakeholders with logic and data.
We’re building a technology stack that supports our three pillars: the Vanna
Network, our model of highly accessible in-person and digital care; Vanna
Coaches, our incredible team of dedicated community health workers and peer
specialists; and the Vanna Program, a personalized community-based care
program for our members. This mobile-first technology, known as our Member
Relationship Management (MRM) system, is built to support our community-based
teams in building trusting, lasting relationships with members.
Your role will be a key part of the team building our MRM system, which
enables Vanna Coaches to capture unique member data in the field, such as
likes and dislikes, family and social supports, frequented locations, and
other critical social determinants of health (SDoH) and engagement data. You
will help design, architect and implement the back-end services supporting
this system, and our mobile-first front-end. As the team grows, you will also
be responsible for mentoring junior engineers.
**Responsibilities**
* Build great technology: Design and implement solutions that support our Vanna Coaches and members
* Collaborate well with your colleagues – you’re working together to build world-class products for individuals with SMI and the Vanna Coaches that support them
* Assist with recruiting top talent into our R&D organization
* Craft elegant, accessible user interfaces and interactions
* Ensure cross-platform compatibility and optimization
* Write automated tests that ensure our systems work as designed
* Provide feedback to your team and managers during the development process
* Keep up with emerging technologies, and recommend their fit in our evolving stack
* Consider security, maintenance, scalability, and the appropriate trade-offs
* Participate actively in code reviews and other processes that benefit the team
* Mentor and coach junior developers
**About You**
* 5+ years of professional experience using both Python and JavaScript – these are part of our growing tech stack
* Self-starter who is ready for the fast and sometimes nebulous nature of an early stage startup
* Experience building and running large-scale systems in the cloud
* Experience designing services and APIs
* Knowledgeable about application security
* Demonstrated knowledge of modern software development methodologies
* Demonstrated ability to learn new languages, tools, frameworks, and other technologies quickly
* A true team player with proven ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders, other engineers, product managers, and product designers.
* Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into iterative steps
* A desire to participate in the product ideation and design process
* Excellent prioritization skills, and comfort making quick decisions around trade-offs
* Experience in digital and/or mental health products and/or tech-enabled services a plus
