##### **Job Overview:**

The Cloud Network Engineer is responsible for delivering UNFI’s cloud network
environment, which includes defining reference architectures, standards,
engineering and automating the implementation of solutions. This position is
primarily focused on delivery in AWS utilizing services such as Direct
Connect, Private Link, VPC, Elastic Load Balancing, Network Firewall, Transit
Gateway, Route 53, and others as necessary. This role’s expertise also
includes understanding traditional On-Premises networking and security
technologies to support UNFI’s Hybrid cloud deployment.

Primary responsibilities include developing and implementing connected and
secure cloud services, managing requests for new services, establishing a
secure cloud networking environment, and ensuring appropriate availability of
services.

##### **Job Responsibilities:**

* Lead the AWS network design to meet the platform and product team requirements while aligning to UNFI Infrastructure and security standards
* Automate the deployment, configuration and maintenance of network configuration and virtual platforms
* Develop infrastructure as code to meet the needs of our platforms and products
* Serve as Network SME for the team and help develop internal network knowledge
* Work closely with the UNFI cloud engineering and automation teams
* Assist internal Devops/SRE team to support the products and infrastructure automation
* Create and maintain functional / technical design specifications and solutions to satisfy project requirements
* Establish documentation for fellow automation developers, network SMEs and operations staff
* Create simple, repetitive deployment processes that increase both velocity and quality.
* Design, define, create and update UNFI network standards and ensure that the network is deployed to these standards.
* Gather business requirements, determine appropriate solutions, and effectively communicate those to partners.
* Participate as project lead for major projects through project management and interpersonal skills to coordinate project interdependencies
* Recommend the resolution of problems which are highly complex and technical in nature by applying knowledge base technical expertise
* A technical subject matter expert that internally advices in the resolution of outages or high priority incidents
* Leads recovery when systems are down by taking individual action and or coordinating work efforts with cross-functional teams and various vendors integration
* Works the integration of new hardware or software features, including new products or services
* Performs other relevant job duties as required.

##### **Job Requirements:**

* Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related discipline desired, or relevant Cloud Network Engineering work experience.
* AWS Advanced Network Certification preferred

##### **Experience:**

* 3-5 years of experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) with enterprise-level network architecture and engineering within
* AWS.
* 5+ years’ experience working in large scale networking environment
* 5+ years’ experience in internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and/or OSPF
* 5+ years with network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and Junos.
* 3+ years’ experience in DevOps
* Experience in Cisco routing, switching and security platforms and configurations and enterprise hybrid network architectures and security practices.
* Experience in cloud High Availability & replication strategies and architecture, as well as promoting a DevOps culture within the organization to support the CI/CD deployment process. Demonstrated advanced knowledge of native AWS tools and hybrid architectures.
* Experience with architecting and designing for Security Constraints, Resiliency, FaultTolerance, and Scalability in context of AWS Cloud
* Experience with virtualization and/or cloud technologies, especially at the API layer (Especially AWS, Azure and VMware APIs)
* Minimum of 3 years with experience with configuration management software with Terraform preferred but Puppet, Chef, Ansible are a plus.
* Experience working in Agile/Scrum development team
* Experience with container technologies (preferably Docker, Kubernetes)

##### **Abilities:**

* Knowledge and practical experience in managing cloud network services, AWS required
* Python scripting
* Capable and comfortable with collaboration, open communication and reaching across cross-functional IT and business teams
* Knowledge and experience in the use of automation/configuration management using Ansible, HashiCorp, GitLab CI, Nexus or equivalent tool sets
* knowledge and experience in the use of GitLab (Git), including branching, versioning, access management, pipeline configuration & execution
* Deep knowledge of core networking principles such as IPv4 and IPv6 protocols, BGP, DNS, MPLS, etc.
* Knowledge and practical experience in IT Cloud Platform
* Knowledge of Agile software development practices
* Practical experience of ELK, Stackdriver or similar log aggregation equivalent
* Working knowledge and practical experience of common SolarWinds, Splunk, New Relic, Prometheus, Grafana, Elastic or similar monitoring equivalent
* Strong attention to details
* Problem investigation and diagnostic skills
* Knowledge in automation technologies within Azure or AWS
* Able to write and maintaining clear documentation about system architecture, release, and implementation plans, and develop and maintain internal documentation.
