are seeking a CTO to join our early stage startup.
Chief Technical Officer Requirements
Tasks:
Design scalable and secure cloud architecture for SaaS and containerized
deployment models
Design, recruit and manage technical team, making decisions on team structure
and resourcing
Lead the design of Azure cloud architecture leveraging PaaS, IaaS and
serverless components
Ensure software meets quality, reliability, availability, performance, and
security standards
Stay current on emerging technologies like Web3, smart contracts, large
language models and generative AI
Translate product vision and business requirements into technical strategy and
roadmaps
Implement agile/scrum development processes for rapid prototyping and
iterative product development
Build key technical partnerships and manage vendor/contractor relationships
Implement privacy-by-design, ethical AI principles, and legal compliance
frameworks
Instrument systems to capture key metrics and derive actionable insights
Proactively identify and mitigate security threats and technical risks
Implement identity and access management, key management, logging and
monitoring
Optimize cloud spend and establish cost controls and reporting
Help establish performance management, goal setting and feedback processes
Collaborate closely with founder, co-founder and cross-functional teams:
Design technical organization structure and job roles
Help Decide on new markets
Help raise capital, as needed
Evangelize products and vision to customers, partners, investors and talent
Coach and develop technical leaders as the organization scales
Future tasks:
Research and prototype Web3 and smart contract applications for decentralized
science
Establish Web3 technical strategy encompassing blockchain, tokens, wallets,
oracles, storage
Cultivate additional relationships with Web3 developer ecosystem and stay
current on evolving standards
Knowledge:
Deep knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure), modern software architectures and
optimal engineering practices
Strong leadership skills to design, build, mentor and manage high-performing
technical teams
Strategic thinking to make key architectural and organizational design
decisions
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work with founder, co-
founder and cross-functional stakeholders
Passion for AI and emerging technologies like LLMs, LangChain, Web3, and smart
contracts
Mental models of taking products from concept to market and scaling them post
product-market fit from experience
Knowledge of optimization methods balance speed of delivery with reliability,
availability, security and technical debt management
Expertise in managing experts or services for SaaS metrics, DevOps, CI/CD, and
building scalable and resilient cloud services
Knowledge of methods to prioritize in the face of constraints
Deep understanding of data privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) and compliance
standards (ISO 27001, SOC 2)
Knowledge of modern threat modeling, penetration testing and security
practices
Expert understanding of Azure cloud services and architecture patterns
Knowledge of Azure Arc, AKS, Key Vault, Azure AD, Application Insights, etc.
Knowledge of both IaaS and PaaS deployment models, microservices, serverless,
containerization
Understanding of cloud cost optimization techniques and FinOps
Nice to have knowledge, but not required:
Familiarity with objective assessments for hiring, promotion and employee
development
Hands-on experience with Ethereum, Solidity smart contracts, IPFS,
tokenization
Knowledge of leading decentralized AI Web3 infrastructure, tools, libraries
and frameworks (e.g. Fetch.ai, Ocean Protocol, SingularityNET)
Understanding of cryptography, zero-knowledge proofs, verifiable credentials
Skills:

including technical, social and business systems
