This co-founder or founding engineer level role is for skilled hardware
engineers who prototype the fastest and ship products that exceed the
requirements. Experience in medical devices or life sciences is expected.
Axiom is a life sciences startup that is making an axiomatic change in how
neurological diagnostics are designed and administered. Our platform uses
commercially novel, non-invasive sample types to collect valuable molecular
data that gets at the root of the disease. This data will be used to diagnose
early disease and to guide precision treatment, as well as inform therapeutic
development. Our advisors include top diagnostics innovators and scientists
focused on these rich sample types.
_As Chief Engineer, will be able to:_
* Build an independent hardware organization within the data-focused startup.
* Have decision-making authority over the device and your team.
* Contribute to overall company strategy and other parts of the business (e.g. data engineering) as desired.
* Join after the completion of our pre-seed raise, to slightly derisk joining such an early company.
_Your responsibility is simple:_
In the course of 1-2 years, ship an approved medical device that enables
collection of a specific sample in a point-of-care clinic, easily and non-
invasively. Requirements will be discussed during the inverview process. You
will be given a clear success criteria, but the design and even mechanism of
action are your resposibility. While we cannot explain too much publically,
the complexity of the device depends on the collection method chosen but can
be expected to be in the order of magnitude of a Tasso lancet device.
_The ideal candidate will:_
* Be a skilled independent hardware engineer, able to prototype and develop the methodology as a team of one or two to begin.
* Be a inspiring manager, able to build and lead a team as it grows from 1 to 20+, including regulatory, clinical, and QC, beyond just engineers.
* Be entrepreneurial, ready to join a founding team and own a large part of the company and the responsibility.
* Have experience in medical devices, so you know what to expect for design control, quality... all the way to things like sterilization.
* Have worked on products in all stages of the development process, from conception to transfer to manufacturing and beyond to commercialization.
