Position Summary
The Jr. Software Engineer for the Avionics and Power team is responsible for
developing software for safety-critical applications and supporting scripting
and analysis needs from other teams. This role works with other software
engineers to develop assured systems on both embedded and server platforms.
This role helps develop software requirements, performs trade studies, and
works with stakeholders to ensure system needs are met. This position is on a
highly collaborative, multi-discipline Agile team developing cutting-edge
solutions for edge-of-space applications.

**Core Accountabilities and Essential Functions**
* Develop secure software solutions which communicate across a variety of interfaces.
* Write control software and support verification efforts to ensure off-nominal behavior doesnβt occur.
* Work with experienced software engineers to develop edge-of-space solutions.
* Hold design reviews and participate as a stakeholder in reviews across systems.
* Develop requirements and interface definitions.
* Work with other teams to develop analysis scripts and tools as needed.
* Leverage industry standards and domain knowledge to develop assured software.
* Verify software on representative hardware.

**Required Education and Experience**
* 4-year degree from an ABET-accredited college or university in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering.
* College experience developing embedded software.

**Required Qualifications**
* Excellent technical communication skills.
* Clear understanding of software development methodology and principles.
* Familiarity with:
* Developing C & C++ for memory and compute-constrained environments.
* Embedded software development.
* Writing Python scripts for non-mission critical applications.
* Debugging and testing software.
* Understanding of secure software design principles.
* Willingness to learn new skills and work in a dynamic environment.
* Willingness to weekends in support of flight testing (approx. 1-3 per year).
