Description:
The IT Cloud Engineer role is to provision, manage, monitor, and tune
infrastructure & Kubernetes clusters in a distributed environment to ensure
high levels of availability and security of the supported business
applications. This role requires additional knowledge and experience used to
automate provisioning and management of infrastructure in a distributed
environment through scripting and containerization. This individual also
participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to
ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company
goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements:
* Ensures excellent customer service is provided at all times
* Participates in day-to-day activities as well as project work for the IT infrastructure team
* Responsible for the deployment, life-cycle management, inventory, monitoring, and support of all IT infrastructure systems including but not limited to: cloud services, Kubernetes clusters, servers, storage devices, and network equipment
* Ensures timely response to all infrastructure tickets, phone calls, and system-generated alerts; during and after hours
* Kubernetes management including Kubernetes cluster deployment, performance optimization, monitoring/alerting using Grafana, security hardening, ingress controller management, persistent storage management, and secret/certificate management.
* Work closely with development teams to assist in the creation of CI/CD pipelines
* Implement automation to ease administration where possible using one or more scripting language (Ansible, Python, PowerShell, Bash, etc.).
* Define hardware and software standards in conjunction with owners and stakeholders
* Assists in training and development of Infrastructure team staff
* Executes service continuity, disaster recovery, fail-over and data recovery exercises for all assets within scope
* Collaborates with Cyber Security and Service Desk teams to ensure security, administration, and support is appropriate and prioritized
* Collaborate with development teams to implement multi-tier architecture applications: load balancers, caching, web servers, application servers, databases, and networking
* Design of self-healing and fault-tolerant services
