Job Description

With just a small team (~20 people), Motion has thrived over the last two
years and 2023 is shaping up to be a defining year. We’ve raised funding and
are hitting the mark with our users. This role offers the opportunity to get
in on the ground floor to help us build a category defining company in the
“creative-tech” space.

About Motion:
Content is the lifeblood of any marketing team but most organizations still
don’t have a data-driven approach to their creative process. While growth
marketers often obsess over performance metrics, creative teams can lean too
heavily on brand and aesthetics. This is where Motion comes in. We empower
many of the world's best agencies and ecommerce brands to make the right
creative decisions and drive a unifying conversation between data and
creative. Our approach is resonating and we’re growing fast.

What we are looking for:
We are seeking a talented and experienced front-end engineer. In this role,
you will play a crucial role in developing Motion’s product. As a company, we
have a strong bias towards action and are looking for confident individuals
with both technical and product savvy. You evaluate product and technical
decisions from a customer’s perspective vs. just shipping code. The right
candidate should be willing to work closely on cross-functional teams, have
opinions about good product and embrace a willingness to jump in and get the
job done. We are a fully remote company but we still work closely as a team.
We therefore need someone who can work during standard hours somewhere between
UTC-5 and UTC+1.

Must have:

* 5+ years of experience as a front-end engineer, with experience building products people love and use every day.
* Strong grasp of front-end technologies, including React, TypeScript, GraphQL, and relevant frameworks/libraries.
* Startup experience with a proven ability to thrive and lead in a fast-paced environment. Demonstrated ability to think beyond technical questions and understand the bigger picture of product development and customer value.
* Strong problem-solving skills and a pragmatic mindset that focuses on simple paths to delivering value. Some experience with full stack development, e.g. Node.js and MongoDB.
* A desire to just get things done on the backend, when the situation calls for it.
* Impatience for shipping product features to our users.
* Any past experience. Self-taught, bootcamp, degree, founder - we love talent from anywhere.

In 30 days, you will:
Be paired with an onboarding buddy to ramp up on our codebase, customers and
workflows. Work closely with team members and get to know your colleagues
across the company. Immediately start contributing smaller features and
changes.

In 60 days, you will:
Collaborate closely on cross-functional teams to build completely new
features. Work independently on product solutions that get shipped to main.
Actively contribute to the growth of the engineering organization by being
vocal in meetings, setting the roadmap, contributing to the tech stack, etc.

In 90 days (and beyond), you will:
Be an active contributor across the organization, not just on the engineering
team. Continuously learn and tackle unique technical challenges within our
evolving product. Advocate improvements to our development process. Come up
with novel solutions to product challenges and customer problems. Contribute
to making the engineering team better, in ways we haven’t thought of yet.

What you'll love about Motion:
We've found product market fit but we're still so early that you will have a
major impact. The engineering team is small, six devs, but established enough
that we can ship serious features regularly. We’re a tech company so we have
all the standard startup benefits: Great vacation policies, health care,
modern tech, home office budget etc. Our team is very ambitious, super capable
and low on egosSpace to bring your own ideas to life, on the product and the
techFully remote team with occasional international get togethersWe prioritize
shipping quickly to users, pushing new features and iterations every two
weeks. You’ll be early on the team and get the opportunity to impact the way
we do that. We want Motion’s impact in the creative-tech industry to be up
there with the Webflows, Canvas and Figmas of the world. We have a deep
understanding of the problem space through many years of tinkering in the
industry. We know exactly what it’s going to take for Motion to win. We’d love
for you to join us on the ride!
