##### Job Description :

We’re looking for an exceptional Software Developer - Python to help us make a
difference to our planet.

Our Software Developer - Python will work a hybrid pattern of homeworking and
1 day per week preferred in Exeter HQ , but this can be adjusted based on
conversations with your line manager. Our people are at the heart of what we

As our Software Developer, your starting salary will be £30932.00 and you will
have opportunities to progress to £33925.00 over time. New joiners to the Met
Office will start on the salary band minima.

In addition you will be paid £2,500 per annum as a market supplement to
reflect the demand for your skills. You will be paid this market driven
allowance from April 2022 until March 2024 in your monthly pay whilst
performing this role.

Your total reward package is potentially worth up to £45,625 annually, which
includes basic salary, market supplement, potential corporate bonus and
employer pension contributions.

##### **Job Purpose**

This role is within the Consumer Digital team, who are responsible for
developing, maintaining and supporting the public facing data services for the
Met Office.

The primary programming language we use is Python to create and manage a
variety of solutions that service data to our customers.

We are evolving our tool sets to provide capabilities to the general public to
be able to make better informed weather decisions. These capabilities are part
of the Met Office making best use of our supercomputer to work at the
forefront of weather and climate science for protection, prosperity and well-
being.

We will help you develop your skills, express yourself and make a real impact.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills (Experts by nature
* Proven ability of designing, implementing and delivering quality software using Amazon Web Services (We keep evolving)
* Good communication skills that adapt to all level of stakeholders (We're better together)
* Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, and lead development activitie
* Demonstrable skills in Python software development
* Demonstrable skills in AWS CDK
