We are looking for a Technical Co-Founder to work alongside our founding
members and help scale Mentee, a platform that connects high school students
to college mentors through one-on-one meetings and panel events. Our platform
emphasizes honesty and personalization for high school students looking to
find their perfect college fit, which we believe separates ourselves from
current tools like college-distributed marketing materials, rankings, and
databases. The ideal candidate is someone who is a skilled software engineer,
passionate about the idea, and believes in it just as much as we do.
Though we aren't currently able to offer much in the form of compensation, we
are prepared to offer a significant amount of equity in our company, which is
about to go to market at a number of different high schools. Our Technical Co-
Founder will be in charge of building out our full-service product which will
be fueled by a generative AI algorithm that assists in helping match high
school students with college mentors based on a variety of academic,
extracurricular, and identity-related factors.
**Responsibilities**
This candidate will be entirely in charge of our full-service product and will
manage the development of it in all aspects, including the management of any
future employees
Create an algorithm that uses data (currently stored in an AWS database) to
match high school students with college mentors
Work with UI / UX designers to create a visually appealing website with a
seamless and easy user experience
Link our stored data to our website and auto-populate various fields on the
website
Perform website maintenance and adjust the product direction based on product
market feedback
**Qualifications**
Excellent communication skills
2+ years of professional experience in software engineering, ideally in HTML
and Java
Course knowledge or professional experience with database management (AWS
experience a significant plus)
Course knowledge or professional experience with AI learning algorithms
Ability to be flexible with work hours, perform multiples roles at the
company, and communicate regularly with founders
Ability to adapt and change the direction of the website quickly
Interest in our idea or the ed-tech industry in general
Interest in extremely early-stage / pre-seed startups
Mentee focuses on Education and Education Technology. Their company has
