### About the role
We're looking for an experienced full-stack developer to join our team and
help deliver and support best-of-breed podcast advertising products ranging
from media planning, ad delivery verification, and ad campaign measurement.
This role is suited for someone that has 3 to 6 years of professional software
development experience building web apps and can handle many responsibilities,
including:
* Adding new features to our Ruby on Rails application from top-to-bottom, full stack. You will work with operations and sales to help creatively design ‘good enough’ yet professional solutions.
* Increasing system/code quality by using practices such as TDD and refactoring. Quality around the core of the system has become more important as we continue to scale up. Can also manually test features when necessary (or when it’s more cost effective than automating).
* Experiment and provide stopgap solutions for potential opportunities. Sometimes, this involves quick and dirty solutions such as scripting, SQL exports, web scraping and the like.
* Enhancing usability of existing features via JavaScript/Ajax and other front-end improvements.
* Troubleshoot and fix performance issues, usually involving slow, sometimes complex, SQL queries and complicated workflow logic.
* Sharing in providing operational support to make sure the system stays running and address any bugs. (Most usage is during normal business hours…we don’t do pagers.) Not quite 24/7 support, more like 16/6-ish support.
* Experimenting via internal hackathons to produce novel solutions and feature enhancements.

### Software Development at Magellan AI
We follow a lightweight Agile development process.
* We meet with product managers daily to discuss our progress, any blockers and priorities. We keep meetings short and punchy. We're also available to chat with customer success managers to ensure they continue delivering the best customer support in our industry.
* Every week, we have one formal product meeting with the revenue and operations team to reset priorities. The rest of the time is self-directed, with developers figuring out how to best solve any problems. In general, we are not working against any deadlines and make sure we take the time to do the job right.
* We practice Collective Code Ownership so that anyone can change any line of code and anyone can introduce new libraries or tools.
* We deploy code on a regular basis, usually multiple times per week. IOW, we ship fast and learn fast.
* We usually host a weekly team retrospective to discuss ways to improve communication and collaboration.
* We like to pair program when possible, but there’s usually plenty of work to solo on.
* We make it easy for the tech-adjacent team members to run QA with clear documentation and steps to test our work.
### Tools and Technologies
The main application is on Ruby on Rails and hosted on Heroku. Any Javascript
in the application is minimal, and is mostly in the Turbo framework or native.
A separate Python application handles all of the machine learning.
