**Position Summary:**
We have an exciting opportunity for a **Software Engineer** to join our team
in McLean, VA. The ideal candidate will have **Python/Django** background
whose responsibilities include analysis, design, development, testing, data
staging, and implementation activities. To perform this job successfully, an
individual must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed; meet the
education and work experience required; and must be able to perform each
essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily. Other duties, in addition to
the below, may be assigned as necessary to meet business needs.
**Essential Job Functions:**
* Knowledge and working Experience using both Python and related Django framework.
* Experience developing web-based applications and services using Java EE, JavaScript, REST, JPA (e.g. Hibernate), HTML, CSS, AJAX, XML, jQuery
* Experience with relational databases management systems such as PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server (writing SQL/T-SQL, Stored Procedure, triggers)
* Solid knowledge of the principles of object-oriented programming
* Experience with Source Control Management systems, such as GitLab/Git and Team Foundation Server (TFS)
* Understanding of Unit Testing and associated frameworks (e.g. JUnit)
**Minimum Required Qualifications:**
* US Citizenship or legal permanent resident.
* Must be able to obtain and sustain a Public Trust clearance after employment.
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related degree preferred with at least 4 years of related work experience including system analysis, software design, Python and Java development.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
* Experience with continuous integration software build schemes: OpenShift, Docker, Jenkins, Linux (e.g. Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL)
* Experience with Web Servers (e.g. JBoss, IBM WebSphere)
* Experience working in an Agile software development environment
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work independently, take ownership of tasks, and deliver high-quality products and customer services
* Ability to work well and collaborate with peers in a team-oriented environment
* Ability to multitask within tight deadlines; self-directed and results/goal oriented
* Personal drive to investigate new technologies and ability to articulate concepts and designs
**Preferred Skills:**
* Experience with Microservices, React, and Azure DevOps
* Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals or related cloud certifications
Other:
* Work location: McLean, VA Office. This role is hybrid and needs someone who can be onsite 4 to 6 times per month as needed.
