### Who We Are

We are [Friends From The City,](http://Friendsfromthecity.com) a design and
tech company focused on impact. We envision a future where everyone has equal
access to the benefits of technology and where the use of technology is guided
by ethical principles and a commitment to sustainability and inclusivity.
We're a minority, woman-owned, L.G.B.T.E., and service-disabled veteran-owned
small business headquartered in New York City. That being said, diversity and
inclusion aren't a trendy byline for us. Everyone we hire is celebrated for
their unique background, experience, and talent. We welcome you.

Our mission is to make interactions with the government easy for everyone. We
create user-centered, inclusive, and accessible digital experiences for
federal agencies. Picture this: A loved one is trying to access information on
a government website, but they experience frustrating navigational challenges.
Perhaps a relative seeking citizenship needs help to understand the
application process because of a language barrier. At Friends From The City,
we work to eliminate obstacles like these.

Our approach to human-centered design and software development is pretty
straightforward. Using user research, we design and develop functional
platforms using clean code and intuitive design, then make them accessible to
everyone.

### About the Role

Like most people in the United States, we depend on government systems to pay
taxes, obtain passports, and manage healthcare and other benefits.
Unfortunately, completing these transactions online can be challenging.

We are looking for an experienced **Sr. Product Manager** who is passionate
about building products that people love. You will lead an agile, cross-
functional team to enhance the VA's pension products, ensuring Veterans
receive the benefits they deserve with minimal burden. Your expertise will
ensure that VA digital products are user-friendly, efficient, and aligned with
the needs of our Veterans.

### About the Ideal Candidate

First, you should understand that working within the federal government is
reminiscent of making a U-turn with a freight ship—it's a slow and often
complicated process.

We are seeking a product manager with **hands-on experience as a data
analyst** who excels as both a leader and an individual contributor. As a
leader, you will champion the team, make decisions, and coach team members.
You will serve as the primary point of contact for business stakeholders and
drive a shared vision within the team and across partners. As an individual
contributor, you will use your **analytics skills to define** , document,
prioritize, test, and iterate on functional requirements. You will collaborate
with partners in research, design, engineering, project management, and
account management to deliver iterative value to both the user and the
business.

This role requires excellent communication, leadership, and technical product
skills. As this is a client-facing role, you will translate the needs of
Veterans and the Department of Veterans Affairs into digital product features.

### Responsibilities

* Gain an understanding of the Veteran experience, identify and fill product gaps, and generate new ideas that improve the user experience
* Understand and synthesize the complexities of the VA.gov environment, including policies, existing Veteran workflows, and user journeys into high-potential product opportunities
* Work in collaboration with research, design, and engineering to rapidly define and develop products that deliver value to Veterans and their families
* Cultivate a positive, trusting, and cooperative working relationship with our government clients and our vendor partners supporting this work
* Translate product strategy into detailed requirements and prototypes + scope and prioritize activities based on business and Veteran impact
* Manage timelines and a product roadmap to organize timely feature releases and minimize release delays
* Utilize your expertise in data analysis to uncover actionable insights that inform product strategy and feature prioritization
* Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure product success and identify areas for improvement

**Requirements**

* 5+ years of experience working as a Product Owner or Product Manager in an agile environment for web and mobile products
* Proven ability to develop product strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management
* Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies
* Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders and write comprehensive feature requirements documents
* Skilled at working effectively with cross-functional teams in an agile/scrum environment
* Passionate about improving Veteran's healthcare, have experience in the space or a personal connection
* MS/BS or BS/BA degree or equivalent client facing experience

**Benefits**

* A competitive salary
* Health, dental, and vision
* 401(k) + company match
* Professional Development Stipend
* 18 Days of PTO, 11 Federal holidays, and 6 wellness days
* A culture that promotes growth, up-skilling, and equality as a rule—not a gimmick
* The ability to make a noticeable impact and improve lives
