Job Description

Our novel approach to office meals comes with a host of interesting
challenges, from refining our meal suggestion algorithm with machine learning,
ontologies, etc., to unique interface challenges and lots of fun API gluing.

We are seeking an experienced backend engineer to develop Forkable's
bulletproof backend services!

What You’ll do

* Design and implement backend systems that are solid, scalable, and flexible
* Collaborate with front-end and data engineers to deliver new features to customers
* Maintain a healthy backend service and resolve live issues
* Design and implement unit testable and highly maintainable code for the service
* Improve and optimize backend stacks for better shape and faster response
* Come up with great new ideas for features and better ways of implementing existing ones

** _Qualifications_**

* Solid software engineer experience on significant services
* Strong development skills in languages such as javascript, ruby, python (preferably having a solid background on modern web stacks)
* Experience in design and implementation on scalable/cloud-based architectures for production-grade backend (preferably having experience on AWS; ec2 load balancing, auto-scaling, cloud watch, and aurora)
* Experience with database engineering, including SQL/GraphQL with million-size relational records (preferably having the ability to write and optimize PostgreSQL and GraphQL)
* Ability to design relational schemas appropriate for given use cases
* In-depth understanding of the fundamentals of web technologies, data structure, and algorithms
* Great team communication, including writing and verbal skills
* Great self-management on time and priorities even with our flexible work-from-home policy

** _Preferred Qualifications_**

* Experience with Ruby on Rails backend
* Experience operating relational databases at scale
* Experience with A/B/C experiments with clustering, designing, and tracking efforts
