We seek a Sr. Shopify Engineer to build, operate, and grow our primary
commerce platform. The Sr. Shopify Engineer will be responsible for bulding
and developing new functionality on the platform, ensuring the operational
stability of the platform, and providing technical direction on the platform’s
roadmap.
The Sr. Shopify Engineer will report to the Director of Commerce Engineering
as part of the Digital Architecture team, and will work with other engineers
to support the development and operation of a best-in-class commerce platform.
As part of the Digital Architecture team, the ideal candidate will have a
strong Shopify background as well as in web development. Responsibilities will
include systems and platforms adjacent to, but outside of Shopify. The
candidate should have hands-on experience in both frontend (HTML, JS, CSS,
REACT) and backend development. The Sr. Shopify Engineer must have strong
problem-solving skills, be able to articulate and advocate for technical
solutions, be a strong communicator, and be comfortable working with a
geographically distributed team that crosses both continents and cultures.
THE ROLE
In this role you will be responsible for:
Building, modifying, and deploying Shopify themes across myriad Shopify
brands, environments, and locales.
Providing operational support to DTC partners within the Shopify platform
(order support, promotion support, etc.)
Building and supporting integrations between Shopify and numerous platforms,
both frontend and backend using Shopify APIs and other 3rd party APIs.
Supporting in the architectural roadmap
Exploring, evaluating, and evangelizing solutions to sets of business
requirements with a range of audiences.
QUALIFICATIONS
We’d love to see candidates who have:
Essential:
Deep understanding of Shopify theme development
Deep understanding of one or more frontend architectures (Vue, React, etc.)
Intimate familiarity with Shopify’s Storefront and Admin APIs
An understanding of configuring and maintaining all aspects of the Shopify
platform
Strong experience with HTTP web architecture and building or consuming
REST/GraphQL API’s
5+ years of hands-on development experience
Desirable:
Strong communication skills
Experience with working with team members and business partners across
multiple time-zones.
A well-developed sense of humor and grace under pressure.
