**emdash** is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a small but mighty
team developing the next generation of collaboration tooling for distributed
teams. This is a unique, fast-paced, green-field opportunity to make a
material impact on an early-stage product’s trajectory and technical
foundations.

**emdash** is powerful new approach for organizing work conversations and
keeping you focused on what matters most. **emdash** integrates video
conferencing, chat messaging, and knowledge management solutions into a
single, easy to use application. Teams using **emdash** can more effectively
conduct team meetings, collaborate with customers, and make decisions in real-
time while keeping everyone in the loop.

**emdash** was founded in the Spring of 2022 by Neville Bowers and Phil
Zigoris. Neville and Phil have worked together for over a decade and bring a
combined 30+ years of hands-on technology and startup experience to their
latest venture. Prior to **emdash** , Neville founded Rimeto, an enterprise
directory service which powered people collaboration at work. [Rimeto exited

**Key Responsibilities**

* Take initiative in identifying opportunities to enhance our codebase, product, systems, and tech stack that drive impact for our customers and engineering team.
* Define and uphold engineering patterns, standards, and best practices, fostering technical excellence across the team.
* Shape and influence the technical and operational roadmap by aligning product strategy with actionable insights from customers.
* Partner seamlessly across teams and disciplines to design innovative solutions that address customer needs and expectations.
* Provide thoughtful, constructive feedback to teammates and actively seek input from colleagues and customers, maintaining an unwavering commitment to continuous product improvement.

**Job Qualifications**

* Must hold an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or relevant technical field from an accreditied institution, or demonstrate equivalent practical experience.
* 4+ years of professional (full-time) software engineering experience building complex and resilient systems at scale.
* Must be energized by the challenges of an early-stage startup environment: green field product opportunities, difficult trade-offs, and ambiguous and frequently changing roles and responsibilities. Initiative and ownership are critical!
* Familiarity with TypeScript, React, Node.js, and GraphQL is a plus.
* Experience with relational databases, caching, and AWS is critical.

**Location**
We are located in the Bay Area and expect team members to convene in person
3-4 times per month in San Francisco.
