**Overall Purpose:**

This Systems Engineering position is responsible for supporting the overall
operation of Duquesne Light’s Applications that support Operations. Position
includes day-to-day support and configuration of software applications
associated with a variety of operational applications. Prior experience
supporting any of the following types of operational applications such as
SCADA, Outage Management, C#, Python, along with ArcGIS Utility Network,
ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS APIs, and Data Analytics software, such, as Aveva
OSISoft PI, is a plus. Experience with supporting and interfacing with
Graphical Information System Applications (GIS), Work Management System
Applications, Customer Databases, Interactive voice response applications,
software applications used to historize, analyze and visualize data, as well
as mobile applications, is also helpful. Position will be required to follow
all critical infrastructure protection (CIP), cybersecurity and change
management processes. Position interfaces with individuals within DLC’s
business sector including but not limited to the Operation’s Center/Control
Room operating staff, Customer Service, Measurement, Field Support Staff,
Engineering, Asset Management, and Planning. The candidate must possess
excellent interpersonal, oral, written communication and teamwork skills.
Position is required to perform daily, weekly, and other periodic procedural
tasks to verify the state of the listed operational applications. Position
requires the candidate to perform programming and database configuration on
projects associated with the real-time control of the Duquesne Light’s
critical electric utility assets.

Position is required to provide business and configuration support of various
operation’s system applications, specifically data acquisition issues with
front end communication processor issues, communication technologies using
analog, digital (DDS), DNP3, frame relay or MPLS, protocols used by each
associated system to collect data from field Remote Terminal Units (RTUs),
support for Inter-Control Center Protocol (ICCP), for various operational
applications. Actively assists with maintaining, configuring operational
applications asset databases, ports, and data services. Provides support and
maintains application compliance with CIP Standards. This job involves the
support of operational applications for operation’s business users during
critical weather conditions. The job also includes resolving business user
enhancement requests. Job is required to maintain high levels of operational
application availability.

Maintain an awareness of new developments in data acquisition with functional
applications technology, as applied to power system control and operation.
Provide configuration assistance, especially during storms, by filling the
role as an operational application’s support resource.

**Job Responsibilities:**

* Responsible for participation on one or more project teams, application development, integration, and modification activities, as well as related ongoing maintenance and support of operational applications.
* Participate in application project planning sessions with team members to analyze Business IT requirements.
* Engaging in limited amounts of client interactions.
* Maximize Data Quality: ** ** Support the DLC Business Analytics team to determine the company’s current data quality and maturity levels; assist in the development of an operation’s data quality strategy.
* Provide technical, procedural, and functional configuration support for various DLC operational applications.
* Configuring and integrating applications per written specifications.
* Translating business and technical requirements into various operational applications modules.
* Utilizing at a minimum one programming language or software technology.
* Collaborate with the DLC Business Analytics team to determine what data should and should not be captured.
* Aiding in the preparation and presentation of project status updates.
* Making configuration modifications to existing software applications and modules in accordance with written specifications and industry standards.
* Configure software application modules using disciplined software development processes.
* Testing and implementing application modules that have been provided by external software vendors, ensuring that the application meets the needs of DLC business users.
* Providing ongoing maintenance of client/server applications and/or tools.
* Handling Tier I support issues (tickets) with various operational applications.
* Participate in the operation’s On-Call Rotation.
